What it is about
Teach You a Lesson (참교육) is a Netflix series released in full on 5 June 2026. Netflix’s own announcement describes it as the story of a Bureau for the Protection of Teaching Authority, a fictional government body created to defend Korean schools and teachers’ rights when students, teachers or parents cross the line. Kim Mu-yeol plays the bureau inspector Na Hwa-jin; Lee Sung-min plays education minister Choi Kang-seok, Jin Ki-joo an inspector who came from the special forces, and Pyo Ji-hoon the bureau’s administrator. Hong Jong-chan directs and Lee Nam-kyu wrote it. Newsis reports that the source is a webtoon of the same name serialised on Naver from 2020 by 채용택 and 한가람 — no source this profile can cite gives their names in Latin script, so they stay as Newsis prints them; Netflix says the series borrows the webtoon’s setting and was newly adapted around it.
Why it broke out internationally
It is the biggest Korean drama of 2026 by Netflix’s own count. The Korea Herald reported on 29 July 2026 that the series had reached 60.2 million views eight weeks after release and entered Netflix’s all-time top 10 for the most-watched non-English series — the second Korean series to do so after Squid Game, and by Herald Business’s reckoning the fourth Korean entry on that list of ten, since Squid Game holds three places on it. Herald Business also reported that the series held first place on the weekly global chart for four weeks from release and was in the top 10 in 91 countries from its second week.

What the 'views' number in the Netflix Top 10 actually counts
