What it is about
Agent Kim Reactivated (김부장) is a ten-episode SBS Friday-Saturday drama that ran from 26 June to 25 July 2026. SBS described it in its own announcement as a revenge action drama in which “the most ordinary father in the world” becomes “the most dangerous man in the world” to get his only daughter back. So Ji-sub plays the title role; Nam Dae-joong wrote it and Yi Seung-young and Lee So-eun directed. The Korea Herald describes the series as a live-action adaptation of the Naver webtoon of the same name.
Why it broke out internationally
At home the drama passed 20 per cent within four episodes and peaked at 23.1 per cent nationwide on its eighth, which Yonhap News TV reported as the second-highest figure in the history of SBS’s Friday-Saturday slot; the finale drew 23.0 per cent nationwide. Abroad it was released on Netflix in parallel, and SBS News reported on 22 July 2026 that the series had held first place on Netflix’s global Top 10 for non-English TV for three consecutive weeks, ranking first in 19 countries and entering the top 10 in 73.
It also carried a production first. The Korea Herald reported on 10 July 2026 that a three-minute action sequence in the opening two episodes was generated entirely with AI, by Morpheus Studio on its Aicron platform — described as the first commercial use of AI-generated video in a Korean drama.
