What it is about
My Royal Nemesis (멋진 신세계) is a fourteen-episode series broadcast on SBS from 8 May to 20 June 2026, on Fridays and Saturdays at 9.50 p.m. KST. The soul of the Joseon villainess Dan-sim lands in the body of an obscure actress, Seo-ri, who then becomes tangled with Cha Se-gye, a chaebol heir the Korean reports call a monster of capitalism. Lim Ji-yeon plays Seo-ri, Heo Nam-jun plays Cha Se-gye and Jang Seung-jo plays 최문도. The Korea Times names Han Tae-sub as director; JoyNews24 adds 김현우 as the second director and 강현주 as the writer.
Why it broke out
My Royal Nemesis opened at number one on Netflix’s non-English TV list in the week its SBS broadcast began. By Netflix’s weekly figures it drew 3.9 million views for 4 to 10 May, and the seven weeks that followed — 5.1 million (second), 4.1 million (third), 3.8 million (third), 3.3 million (second), 2.7 million (second), 2.7 million (sixth) and 2 million (seventh) — carried it past the end of the broadcast. The eight weeks add up to 27.6 million views.
SBS News reported on 14 May 2026 that the series reached the top 10 in 44 countries. The same report said this was the first SBS Friday-Saturday drama to reach number one in that category in its opening week.
Domestic ratings arrived behind the international ones. The premiere drew 4.1 per cent nationwide. JoyNews24 reported on 3 June that episode 8 peaked at 13.7 per cent, and Topstarnews reported on 21 June that the finale closed on 11.8 per cent nationwide, the drama’s own high.

Eight weeks of My Royal Nemesis, in two curves
SBS's My Royal Nemesis spent eight weeks on Netflix's global top 10 for non-English television. In Netflix's own data the first week was the peak; domestic ratings ran the other way, from 4.1 per cent at the premiere to 11.8 per cent at the finale. Each figure carries the place that published it.
