What it is about

Spooky in Love (오싹한 연애) is a twelve-episode tvN weekend drama that ran from 18 July to 23 August 2026. TVING’s own page for the series calls it an occult romance between an heiress who sees ghosts and the hot-blooded prosecutor who is more frightened of them than anyone. Yeo-ri (Park Eun-bin) is a hotel chief executive who has lived her whole life with the dead in view; Gang-wook (Yang Se-jong) is an ace prosecutor whose courage stops exactly where the supernatural begins, and Kang Min-hwan (Ong Seong-wu) is the head of a rival hotel company. Lee Min-su directs. It reworks the 2011 film released in English as Spellbound, which starred Son Ye-jin and Lee Min-ki; Herald Business describes the series as a transmedia remake of a film that drew about three million admissions.

Why it broke out internationally

The drama closed on its own best figure: Nielsen Korea put the finale at an average of 7.9 per cent nationwide with a peak of 9 per cent, and Korean outlets reported that it had held first place in its time slot among cable and general-programming channels for six consecutive weeks. Abroad it ran in parallel on Netflix, where it spent six weeks in the weekly global Top 10 for non-English TV and reached third place in the week of 3 to 9 August 2026.
