Why is Spooky in Love trending after its finale?

What happened

The tvN drama Spooky in Love has aired its final episode. Edaily, in an article dated 24 August 2026, referred to “the finale of the tvN Saturday-Sunday drama ‘Spooky in Love’, broadcast on the 23rd”, placing the last episode on 23 August. A Saturday-Sunday drama is a Korean series that airs one episode on each of those two nights.

Herald Business and Edaily both reported the finale’s ratings the same day in identical figures: an average of 7.9% nationwide with a peak of 9%, and an average of 7.9% in the Seoul metropolitan area with a peak of 8.9%. Sports Kyunghyang, in an article dated 24 August 2026, reported that “the finale recorded 7.9% both nationwide and in the metropolitan area, setting a new series-high rating”.

Those ratings are measured by Nielsen Korea on a nationwide paid-platform basis - the measurement standard Korean broadcasters cite, covering households that receive television through cable, satellite or IPTV. MyDaily set out that standard when it reported that episode nine, broadcast on 15 August, “recorded an average of 6.1% and a peak of 7.6% on a Nielsen Korea nationwide paid-platform basis”.

Herald Business reported that the drama “also held on to first place in its time slot among cable and general-programming channels for six consecutive weeks”. The same article reported that the finale closed with Yeo-ri (Park Eun-bin) taking the hand of her partner Gang-wook (Yang Se-jong).

Yang Se-jong is the actor who plays Gang-wook in Spooky in Love. Sports Kyunghyang listed the roles in its 24 August article as Yeo-ri (Park Eun-bin) and Gang-wook (Yang Se-jong), and TVING’s title page also lists Park Eun-bin, Yang Se-jong and Ong Seong-wu in the cast.

Ong Seong-wu plays Kang Min-hwan in the same drama, according to Sports Kyunghyang’s cast listing and TVING’s title page. MyDaily reported that in episode nine Kang Min-hwan is the character who causes an investor meeting to fall through, and that in the same episode Yeo-ri and Gang-wook acted together against the threat of a dismissal of the company’s chief executive.

Netflix’s top 10 page lists Spooky in Love fourth in the non-English TV category for the week of 17 to 23 August, with 2.7 million views, 33.9 million hours viewed and a sixth week in the top 10. That is the same period in which the finale aired.

Herald Business reported in its 24 August article that the title had placed “within the top 10 of the global TOP 10 non-English shows announced by Netflix for five consecutive weeks”. The figure in the article and the sixth week listed on Netflix’s page come from different sources and different points in time.
