The song
‘PINKY UP’ is a KATSEYE single released on 10 April 2026. The album introduction carried on Bugs describes it this way: “Featuring bold percussion and a lead bassline topped with sleek synth textures, ‘PINKY UP’ delivers an edgy, high-energy sound.” The same text places the release beside the group’s Coachella set — “Arriving as the group prepares for a milestone debut at Coachella, the track expands the world KATSEYE has been building: confident, playful, and always pushing pop forward” — and adds that “underneath its polished surface, the track carries a rebellious spirit”.
The introduction credits the music video to Bardia Zeinali, who has directed videos for Sabrina Carpenter and Tate McRae: “Directed by Bardia Zeinali, the music video transforms everyday environments into KATSEYE’s own playground.”
The song went on to open the group’s third mini album, WILD, on 14 August 2026. The single before it was Internet Girl in January, and the one after it Animal in July.
Reviews
The Singles Jukebox covered the song on 8 May 2026. Its singles pages carry several writers, each signing and scoring separately.
Ian Mathers gave it eight out of ten and wrote: “So far I’ve quite liked two of the Katseye songs we’ve covered, and they are… very different. And here I find I’m not only not unhappy that they seem to be tacking into a ‘Gnarly’-er direction, but I think I would have been slightly disappointed if they’d gone less aggro.” Of the title he added: “And as a guiding principle for the song, ‘pinky up’ seems about as inchoate as ‘gnarly.’ Which is not a complaint; I look forward to the inevitable Tumblr fanpost and/or doctoral thesis called something like ‘The Triumph of Boshing Over Signification in the Music of Katseye.’”
