Sweet Dreams (feat. Miguel)

The song

‘Sweet Dreams (feat. Miguel)’ is a j-hope digital single released on 7 March 2025. The album introduction calls it a pop R&B serenade that likens falling in love to a sweet dream, carried by dreamlike synths, a bright guitar strum and a soft vocal riff.

By the same introduction the song is the first he released under his own name after his military service, and his first new work in about a year, since the special album HOPE ON THE STREET VOL.1. j-hope helped set the song’s direction, and Sam Martin, who has written for Maroon 5 and David Guetta, and Sean Douglas, who has worked on songs for Madonna and Sia, wrote the words with him.

Reviews

IZM’s Han Sung-hyun reviewed the song ten days after release. He opened by noting that the members of BTS were finishing their military service one by one and beginning to return, with j-hope first in line. Of the song’s impression he wrote that it feels as though it lifts into the sky, like the single cover with its drive above the clouds.

The same review set out how the two singers divide the song, with Miguel’s falsetto taking it from the pre-chorus through the chorus and j-hope holding the verses. It called that a choice made with a clear grasp of what each of them does.

Around it

On Miguel, the album introduction notes that he won Best R&B Song at the 2013 Grammy Awards for ‘Adorn’ and has been nominated 13 times, including for Song of the Year.

The music video went up on the HYBE LABELS channel on the day of release. The introduction says it renders the flutter of falling in love as a house floating in the sky, and that it was shot in a 4:3 aspect ratio to carry the feel of the 2000s. Miguel appears in it. MONA LISA followed two weeks later on 21 March 2025, and Killin’ It Girl (feat. GloRilla) on 13 June 2025.
