Teddy Bear

The song

Teddy Bear is Natty’s second single, released on 12 November 2020. It carries the song and its instrumental, and came six months after her debut single NINETEEN. Swing Entertainment issued it with Stone Music Entertainment, and the music video went up on the Stone Music channel the same day.

The album introduction describes it as an electronic dance song with a chant of a chorus. Idology wrote that Natty, who debuted as a soloist rather than in a group, put out two singles in 2020 alone.

Reviews

Idology (아이돌로지) chose Natty for its 2020 rookies of the year, and two critics wrote separate entries on her. Both read this single alongside her debut.

Harusari wrote that across ‘NINETEEN’ and ‘Teddy Bear’, Natty looks less like a storyteller or an actor delivering an invented story than like the real protagonist of it. He located the reason not in sincerity but in construction: what matters, he wrote, is that almost no gap shows between the person and the plan. The music and the performance are cut finely to fit the performer, he added, and the alignment that results lends real carrying power to what is otherwise a familiar story of a girl chasing a dream.

In the same piece, Randy introduced the record as her second single and picked out its stylish vocal and her acting on stage. He wrote that he could not help admiring how thoroughly Natty takes K-pop in and puts it out again, pointing to her dancing, to a voice and a rap that carry the nuance of more than one language, and to the way she acts with her face on stage.
