The record

WhyKiiiKiii is KiiiKiii’s third mini album, released on 10 August 2026 with six tracks. The title track is ‘Pop Off Pop Off’.

The album introduction on Bugs, written by Starship Entertainment, says the record rewrites the mood of summer in the group’s own way.

Park Si-hun of IZM opened his review of 31 August 2026 with “competitiveness comes, in the end, out of small details”, and read the album as the arrival point of the map the first two records drew. He called it “the site of a festival opened out at the end of that journey so far”, and wrote that “the music, where the group’s stubbornness and an ambitious production lock together, glitters as never before in a far-off place of palm trees and sunlight”.

What he picked out in the record’s construction is the link between its contributors and its songs. Calling the record a festival that invited distinctive artists from separate fields — Lee Seul-ah, Lil Cherry, Omega Sapien, Tomatomat and The Deep — he traced the joins to the earlier songs and wrote that this is “a careful design that strengthens the existing formula”. Of the sound he wrote that “low-register rap and vocals shine by taking in the hyperpop of the underground instead of the neatly ordered form of K-pop”, and went on: “however mainstream the genre has become, a track put through a bold trim unlocks a straight-line pleasure that idol music has rarely allowed.” He closed: “it is a difference of how it was handled rather than what was chosen,” and “the moment thorough execution is added to a blueprint that was experimental and at times reckless, KiiiKiii’s imagination becomes real.”

Kwibi of Idology (아이돌로지), writing in the outlet’s ‘Weekly’ for the release week on 17 August 2026, called the record “an ambitious work that takes up the momentum of the last album and sets out to establish an identity worthy of a name as odd as KiiiKiii”.

Among the tracks

Park read the title track ‘Pop Off Pop Off’ as the place where the album lays the tastes of past and present over one another. “Vocals full of auto-tune, synthesisers in a bright tone and the fierce variation at the chorus are enough to reach an audience that had been looking for a fresh concept, the one people call Frutiger Aero,” he wrote, adding that it is natural for one listener to think of Uhm Jung-hwa’s ‘D.I.S.C.O’ or Kesha’s ‘Tik tok’ and for another to hear something new.

Of ‘Candy Pink Magic Hole Flip Phone’ he wrote that it “also collects the groundwork laid down so far while putting the accent on the group’s lively character”, noting that the title itself aims at the early 2010s and that, with the lyricist Epi helping on the words and the structure, it sharpens the manner of ‘GROUNDWORK’ and ‘BTG’ on the earlier record. That, he added, “is also why KiiiKiii’s timbre is not buried under this fierce sound”.

‘SWEET SOUR’ is the song the same review gives as proof of the album’s range. “The album leads you to enjoy several stages of distinct character from different angles — as on ‘Sweet sour’, which touches nostalgia with the R&B of a similar period and then overturns that fixed image with a playful laugh,” Park wrote, and added: “the K-pop virtue of raising strangeness inside familiarity worked properly.” Of the opening track ‘Ever2Late!’ he wrote that it swims freely along a pluck sound and resembles the wandering through the city of ‘Delulu’ on the earlier record.
