What it is about
The Affair Was Just The Beginning (지금 불륜이 문제가 아닙니다) is a Coupang Play series whose first episode went up at 8 p.m. on Friday 31 July 2026. Coupang Play describes it as a chain-collision black comedy in which a popular influencer couple who have been selling a happy family, and the doctor couple next door in the middle of a filthy divorce suit, are tangled together by a secret so unmanageable that an affair stops mattering.
Kim Hye-soo plays the influencer Kyung-hee, Cho Yeo-jeong the doctor Su-jeong across the street, Kim Ji-hoon plays Jae-hong and Kim Jae-cheol plays Bo-seong. Lee Chang-hee directs, from a script by Jung Eun-kyung and Park Su-rin, and First Man Studio’s Kim Ji-yeon and Hwang Dong-hyuk produce. In its release for the final episode Coupang noted that this was the first drama Kim Hye-soo and Cho Yeo-jeong had appeared in together in 23 years, since Jang Hui-bin.
Why it drew attention
Coupang said in a release on 19 August 2026 that the series had held first place among Coupang Play’s most-watched titles for three consecutive weeks. Herald Business reported on 23 August that it had become the most-watched Coupang Play series ever by cumulative viewing, that viewing had risen 169 per cent since its opening week, and that its user rating stood at 4.6 out of 5. The same report placed it first for drama satisfaction in the third week of August’s viewer assessment of OTT Korean original content.
How it ended
The eight episodes went up one a week at 8 p.m. on Fridays, and the last arrived on 4 September 2026. In its release for that episode Coupang previewed Kyung-hee and Su-jeong — who had been set against each other by the affair — standing startled with a shovel and a hoe, Kyung-hee in front of a camera holding a written apology, and Jae-hong seated in a police interrogation room.
