The Bugs album information gives Warner Records as the label and Warner Music Korea as the distributor, pop as the genre and three minutes and one second as the running time. It carries the one song, and the music video went up on Jisoo’s official channel the same day.
It is her first release since AMORTAGE, the mini-album she put out eight months earlier in February. Newdaily reported that ZAYN, who sings on it, came out of the British boy band One Direction. IZM described the song as an impassioned ballad and its production as electronic.
IZM’s So Seung-geun reviewed the song twelve days after release. He opened by calling it a good example of friendly competition turning into a fine piece of work, and wrote that Jisoo had made a remarkable song with ZAYN.
On the sound he wrote that a transparent, dreamlike electronic production keeps the erotic lyric half hidden, that the two of them singing with the pressure taken off comes out romantic rather than lewd, and that the obsessive polish of the sound approaches something noble. His review closes by calling the song a full stop, for both of them, on a shared kind of hardship.
Newdaily’s Jo Kwang-hyung set out the song’s placings on 22 October 2025. By that report it entered the Billboard Hot 100 at number 72 on the chart published on the 21st, and reached number 20 on the Billboard Global 200 and number 10 on Billboard Global Excl. U.S. The same report wrote that on release it went to number one on YouTube Music’s worldwide trending chart in 74 countries, number 21 on Spotify Top Songs Global, and number one on the iTunes top singles chart in 40 countries.
IZM’s review, written in Korean, is so far the only piece about this song in a review section. In the English-language press NME reported the release as news, and neither that outlet’s review pages nor those of Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, Clash or Billboard carry anything on it.
