Who is Taehyun
Taehyun (태현) is a member of TOMORROW X TOGETHER, the five-member group that debuted on 4 March 2019. The group’s Japan official site gives his birth date as 5 February 2002 and introduces the team as five members: Soobin, Yeonjun, Beomgyu, Taehyun and Hueningkai.
The fourth album The Star Chapter: TOGETHER, released on 21 July 2025, carried one solo song for each member, and Taehyun’s is ‘Bird of Night’, an R&B track he took part in writing and composing. Sports Kyunghyang described it as built on a lyrical opening, a spare rhythm and synthesiser sound, carrying the message that a night too anxious for sleep is also a night you need in order to reach tomorrow. Of the music video, posted to the HYBE LABELS YouTube channel on 1 August, he said through the agency: “I like it because it’s a new side of me, not a clean and glamorous image. The direction and the colour of the video suit the feeling of the song.”
His name is on the group’s next record too. Star News, reporting the track list of the eighth mini album 7TH YEAR: A Moment of Stillness in the Thorns on 5 April 2026, wrote that Yeonjun took part in writing and composing the track ‘So What’ and Taehyun in writing it. That same year ‘I Love You I Love You too’, the OST for the SBS drama 오늘도 매진했습니다 (Oneuldo Maejin-haetseumnida, “sold out again today”) that he sang with Soobin, was released on 29 April and reached number ten on Billboard Japan’s download songs chart published on 6 May.
At the media showcase for the eighth mini album on 13 April 2026 he looked back on the renewal of August 2025. “It took less than an hour to line the members up,” Taehyun said, explaining that they all wanted to keep working as this team and understood one another quickly. On the timing of the announcement he said: “Rather than making the fans wait until the seven-year mark, telling them early that we were renewing seemed likely to give them some reassurance. That’s why we announced it at the concert.”
