RESCENE at the 53rd Korea Broadcasting Awards: A 'Pretty Girl' Stage and a First Turn Presenting
RESCENE performed 'Pretty Girl' at the 53rd Korea Broadcasting Awards at MBC Open Hall on 3 September 2026, and Woni and Minami presented the digital-content programme award, their first time presenting since debut. The stage began when the comedian Lee Seon-min called Woni out from the audience.
What happened
The 53rd Korea Broadcasting Awards were held at 3 p.m. on 3 September 2026 at MBC Open Hall in Seoul, and RESCENE took the stage for the congratulatory performance. According to eToday, as RESCENE were introduced the comedian Lee Seon-min took a microphone in the audience, said he would call them out himself, and shouted “Woni, come out! RESCENE, yaho!” Woni came on stage, answered “Thank you, Uncle Seon-min!” and performed ‘Pretty Girl’ with the members while Lee waved a RESCENE light stick throughout. According to the iMBC report carried by Financial Post, Minami closed with Lee’s own ‘Good Boy’ move and Woni struck his signature ‘Unbalanced Arms’ pose at the ending. My Daily also reported that Lee, seeing this, called out Woni’s name and was in tears. The same day, Woni and Minami took the stage as presenters of the digital-content programme award. According to iMBC, it was the first time either had presented an award since debut.
Why is it trending?
Lee Seon-min and Woni met on the web variety series ‘나의 연수 아저씨’, released in August last year. According to My Daily, Woni was taking driving lessons, and the two settled into an uncle-and-niece rapport; eToday wrote that each then built a following through their own YouTube content, Lee’s ‘용쥬르이용주’ and Woni’s ‘안녕하세요원이입니다잘부탁드립니다’. According to OSEN, Lee appeared on Woni’s YouTube channel in February and told her, “Within five years you will be the MAMA ending fairy, and Uncle will become a main MC on terrestrial TV and invite you as a guest,” to which Woni replied, “That would make me so happy. Let’s make it.” The same report says that on 9 August, at the 2026 Coupang Play Series match between Atlético Madrid and Manchester City at Seoul World Cup Stadium, Lee watched RESCENE’s halftime show and shouted “Hey, Woni!” when her part came, visibly moved. eToday wrote that the tears at the ceremony followed on from that halftime show. On the morning of the ceremony, iMBC, Dailian and Top Star News previewed the performance and the presenting; in the evening, My Daily and eToday reported the stage itself.
