The record

GO生 (GO LIVE) is the first full-length album Stray Kids released on 17 June 2020. It carries fourteen tracks and the title track is ‘God’s Menu’. It is the first record after Clé : LEVANTER closed the Clé series six months earlier, and the repackage IN生 (IN LIFE) follows it by three months.

The album introduction on Bugs says the in-house production team 3RACHA worked on every track, and that the group pushes the numbing, mala-hot music it had been building on each record further into experiment. Of the title track it says the name carries two senses at once, a new menu and a menu handed down by a god, and that the members call the new song a dish and mean to catch every listener’s palate with it. The writers Bang Chan, Changbin and Han are quoted in the same text: “It is a song that adds a range of instruments to a strong hip-hop sound. We tried to bring out the meaning of Stray Kids’ slogan STEP OUT — that we will break the existing frame and take a step ahead.” The same introduction records that tracks eleven and twelve are the opening and closing themes of the Naver Webtoon animation Tower of God, and that tracks thirteen and fourteen had been released earlier as part of the group’s mixtape project.

Reviews

Idology (아이돌로지) put the title track on its twenty best songs of 2020. Seukwip opened his ten-paragraph entry with a question: “What is the relationship between idols and hip-hop and mala soup and a wanderer and a crow? The answer is, there isn’t one. And that is why it is K-pop.” He read the song against the title track before it: “if ‘MIROH’ laid out the ground of stray and kids by making real the recklessness of the kids pressing forward through confusion, ‘God’s Menu’ locks the listener inside that maze.” His argument was about self-production: “In a K-pop production staffed by the composers and lyricists everyone knows, there is no particular need for idols to write their own songs. But an aesthetic specific to the self-producing idol certainly exists, and Stray Kids’ ‘God’s Menu’ is the proof of it.” What that aesthetic consists of, he wrote, runs “from the nerve of carrying through an idea that looks absurd at first glance, to a use of member-fitted character that works by composing parts rather than distributing them”. And: “In the middle of a scene that grows more logical the wider it spreads, Stray Kids demonstratively enjoy the play of the illogical.”

Billboard placed the record tenth on its ten best K-pop albums of 2020. The entry is signed with the initials L.S. only. “Since their debut, Stray Kids have been building a repertoire that reflects who they are”, it opens, and because the two trilogies before it each dealt with a different kind of growing pain, the timing of a first full-length album is “pretty perfect”. The record “presents a far more confident, self-aware, and sophisticated image of this octet”, the critic wrote, naming ‘God’s Menu’, where the group say they will play their own game rather than follow anyone else, and ‘Blueprint’, where they keep moving forward however hard people try to bring them down. The entry closes: “For an act whose albums read like a diary of youth, GO生 is the perfect graduation ceremony and start to a new era.”

Among the tracks

All three pieces put the title track first. Sharifa Charles of Clash, writing the group’s defining songs in 2023, called it “the highly-anticipated title track of Stray Kids’ first full album”, and wrote that “the lyrics and lively production centred around a kitchen theme, create a truly unforgettable song that showcases the group’s diverse range of music.” She added that the group set out with this song to stand out in a competitive industry, and that they had certainly done so.

Seukwip wrote separately about how the title track was chosen. “The members’ conviction in scrapping the song that had been designated the title track and putting ‘God’s Menu’ forward instead, and JYP’s decision to back it, deserve to be talked about more”, he wrote, and closed: “I look forward to the name stray and kids, which embodies the rootlessness of K-pop, shining brighter still.” ‘Blueprint’, the song Billboard’s critic named alongside the title track, is the one the Bugs introduction singles out within the album for the clear electric guitar sound that lifts it.

Numbers

The album introduction to the repackage IN生 (IN LIFE) says this first full-length album sold 127,930 copies in its first week on the Hanteo chart, the group’s own best to that point, and reached number six on Billboard’s World Albums chart. The same text records that the music video for ‘God’s Menu’ passed 100 million views on YouTube on 27 August 2020.

The Korea Herald reported on 30 January 2026 that the song had passed 500 million streams on Spotify. Citing the label, the same report said this was a first for the group and also for a fourth-generation K-pop boy group.
