Concept
The album introduction says NewJeans make their official Japanese debut with this double single, and describes the title track 'Supernatural' as a reinterpretation, into mellow new jack swing, of the ad-libs and bridge of 'Back of My Mind', which Pharrell Williams produced in 2009. The same text describes the B-side 'Right Now' as a bright, catchy pop song built on a drum and bass beat.

The record

Supernatural is NewJeans’s Japanese debut single, released on 21 June 2024 with four tracks, two of them instrumental versions. The title track is ‘Supernatural’; Ilgan Sports reported that the record topped Oricon’s daily singles ranking on the day of release.

The title track’s official video was released in two parts: Part 1 alongside the record on 21 June, and Part 2 on 5 July 2024. ‘Right Now’, the record’s other vocal track, pre-released four days ahead of it, on 17 June, with its own official video.
