The song

‘SUGAR HONEY ICE TEA’ is a digital single BABYMONSTER released on 8 June 2026. It is a summer song that arrived a month after the third mini album 춤 (CHOOM), whose title is the Korean word for dance and whose romanisation the label prints beside it.

YG Entertainment’s album introduction on Bugs calls it “an up-tempo dance song built on a strong bass sound and a hook that lingers in the ear”, and adds that “the confident attitude the members lay over an energetic beat delivers a thrill sharp enough to blow away this summer’s heat at a stroke”. The same text says the song sets sweet words in its title against a cool, self-assured message for the contrast.

Reviews

The Japanese music site Real Sound ran the music video on 17 June 2026 in its column on the weekly ranking of new videos in the YouTube Music Charts, where it was that week’s number one. The writer, Watanabe Akiko, described the video moving in turn through a studio-style set, an office and a retro tea room, and wrote of the office scene that “by deliberately behaving freely in an office where one is supposed to be serious, it seems to hint at an unconfined abandon”.

Of the hook, the same writer noted that by the time the video is over the repeated line will not leave your head, and wrote that “the height of that addictiveness is absolute”. The device at the final chorus, where the crowd drops all at once, may be a meta expression of the scene around the group, the piece added.

Numbers

By that account the music video took the top of YouTube’s worldwide trending on release, then entered the most-viewed-in-24-hours ranking and passed 20 million views about 26 hours after it went up. The performance video, posted 18 hours after the music video, passed five million views in half a day, the same piece reported. On the YouTube Music Charts weekly ranking of new videos in Japan for 5 to 11 June, which that column reads, this video was number one.
