Why BABYMONSTER's Kyocera Dome Osaka Shows Are a First
BABYMONSTER play Kyocera Dome Osaka on 22–23 September 2026: their first dome concerts and the finale of the Japan leg of the 2026-27 CHOOM world tour.
What happened
On 16 March 2026 YG Entertainment posted the ‘2026-27 BABYMONSTER WORLD TOUR ANNOUNCEMENT’ on its official blog, and the same day Kstyle published the Japanese venues: arena shows from July, starting in Kobe, and the group’s first dome concert — two nights at Kyocera Dome Osaka on 22 and 23 September, both listed as public holidays. The Japan leg is planned by YG Entertainment and YG Entertainment Japan and produced by Sony Music Solutions.
The tour took its name, ‘춤 (CHOOM)’ (Korean for ‘dance’), from the third mini album released on 4 May 2026, and opened with three shows at Jamsil Indoor Stadium in Seoul on 26, 27 and 28 June. All three sold out and restricted-view seats were opened. The Japan leg began at GLION Arena Kobe on 8 and 9 July and runs six cities and 11 shows: Marine Messe Fukuoka Hall A (28–29 July), Pia Arena MM in Yokohama (1–2 August), LaLa arena TOKYO-BAY in Chiba (11–12 August), IG Arena in Nagoya (16 August) and, last, Kyocera Dome Osaka.
Star News reported on 10 July that the five arena cities — Kobe, Fukuoka, Yokohama, Chiba and Nagoya — had sold out when tickets went on sale, and described the Osaka dome shows as the finale of the Japan leg.
Why is it trending?
Chosun Biz counted Kyocera Dome among Japan’s five major domes when the Asia and Oceania dates were confirmed on 11 May. BABYMONSTER reach it in their third year: the seven-member group under YG Entertainment debuted on 1 April 2024, according to the label’s official profile, and marked their second anniversary on 1 April 2026, just over two weeks after the tour was announced.
The Japan numbers behind the booking are in Kstyle’s report. The Japan leg of the first world tour, ‘2025 BABYMONSTER 1st WORLD TOUR <HELLO MONSTERS> IN JAPAN’, drew a cumulative 150,000 people over 12 shows in four cities, which Kstyle described as the fastest any K-pop girl group had reached that attendance; the year-end ‘BABYMONSTER LOVE MONSTERS JAPAN FAN CONCERT 2025’ added 100,000 over eight shows in four cities, for 250,000 in Japan in a single year. The full ‘HELLO MONSTERS’ tour, from January 2025, covered 20 cities and 32 shows and drew 300,000 people, according to OSEN.
The second tour is larger. The 11 May ‘IN ASIA & OCEANIA’ announcement added eight Asian cities (Manila, Macau, Bangkok, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Taipei, Singapore and Hong Kong) and three in Oceania (Auckland, Melbourne and Sydney), for 27 shows in 18 cities; extra dates in Singapore and Macau brought the count to 29 shows by 20 June, with Europe, North America and South America still to be announced. Between the album and the tour the group released the digital single ‘SUGAR HONEY ICE TEA’ on 12 June.
YG posted the concept film on 19 June, six days before Seoul: the members put on hand microphones and in-ear monitors in a backstage-like space and push forward out of a trailer — staging YG described as the journey from Seoul to global stages — over music composed and arranged by DEE.P. The upload on the group’s official YouTube channel stood at 12,344,720 views on 26 August 2026. In Kobe the set opened with ‘WE GO UP’ and ran through ‘DRIP’ and ‘SHEESH’ — past 100 million cumulative streams in Japan, per Star News — and the title track and album cuts of CHOOM. The same outlet said the album had reached the upper ranks of the Oricon chart.
