Dance came first
The road that took Daniela (다니엘라) on stage began at home rather than at an audition. In an interview with Billboard Philippines in September 2025 she said, “My mom was the one who taught me how to dance when I was 3 … she is the reason why I’m here.” The same interview described her parents as Latin ballroom dance instructors from Cuba and Venezuela, and quoted her saying she had been dancing since she was three and had almost always been a soloist. Before the audition programme she appeared on the American shows So You Think You Can Dance, America’s Got Talent and The Queen Latifah Show.
The road to KATSEYE
KATSEYE is the girl group on HYBE x Geffen Records, the label HYBE and Geffen Records set up together. The members were chosen through The Debut: Dream Academy, the audition programme that ran in 2023, and the group debuted on 28 June 2024. The official site prints one city in brackets beside each member’s name; beside Daniela’s it prints Atlanta. Grammy.com described her as Venezuelan Cuban in August 2024.
What Spanish carries
The clearest part of what Daniela carries inside the group is the Spanish. She sings the Spanish lyric on KATSEYE’s ‘Gabriela’, and in an interview with ¡HOLA! US in May 2026 she said she was “so excited to finally be able to have sung in my native language and share that part of me with the rest of the world”. The same outlet described her as the first artist of Latin American heritage to be signed to HYBE and reported that she grew up in a Spanish-speaking Latin household in Atlanta.
