Sophia소피아소피아
Sophia (소피아) is the leader of KATSEYE, the girl group on HYBE x Geffen Records who debuted on 28 June 2024. She is from Manila and was the only Filipina among the twenty contestants on the audition programme that made the group.
Sophia (소피아) is the leader of KATSEYE. The Philippine paper BusinessMirror called her “leader of global girl group KATSEYE” in April 2026, and GMA News Online uses the same word. The group is on HYBE x Geffen Records, the label HYBE and Geffen Records set up together, and debuted on 28 June 2024. The city the official site prints beside her name is Manila.
The Debut: Dream Academy took twenty contestants in 2023. On 18 November 2023, the day the final members were announced, GMA News Online reported that of those twenty — cut from 120,000 applicants worldwide — Sophia was the only Filipina. The same report described her as the first Filipino artist signed to HYBE.
In April 2026 KATSEYE played the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, and that stage reached the Philippine legislature. BusinessMirror reported on 27 April 2026 that Javier Miguel Benitez, a representative for Negros Occidental, had filed House Resolution 951. The resolution commends Sophia for her Coachella performance and for “her contributions to elevating Filipino talent on the global music stage”; the same report noted the group’s Grammy nominations alongside it.
The music videos and stage films of the group Sophia leads are on HYBE LABELS and the KATSEYE channel. Her own account addresses are in the fact panel at the top of this page.
