Gaeul is the rapper of IVE, the six-member girl group under STARSHIP Entertainment. She was introduced as the second member in November 2021, and the group debuted with its first single on 1 December 2021.

The PROFILE page of IVE’s official site gives the agency as Starship Entertainment and the debut date as 1 December 2021, and puts Gaeul second in the line-up with her birth date, 24 September 2002. The group’s Japanese official site, run by AMUSE Inc., lists her position as rapper.
STARSHIP Entertainment introduced the members one at a time ahead of the debut, and Gaeul was the second, after An Yu-jin. Newsis reported on 4 November 2021 that she was born in 2002 and would take the rap position in IVE. Seoul Economic Daily, writing the next day, described IVE as the first six-member girl group STARSHIP Entertainment had presented in five years and noted that three members — An Yu-jin, Gaeul and Jang Wonyoung — had been revealed so far.
