Who is Rei?

Rei is a member of IVE, the six-member girl group under STARSHIP Entertainment. The official profile page gives the debut date as 1 December 2021 and the agency as Starship Entertainment, and puts Rei’s birth date at 3 February 2004. The Japanese official site lists her position as both rapper and vocalist.

Rei was fifth in the run of member reveals before the debut. Edaily reported on 7 November 2021 that “Rei, a Japanese national born in 2004,” would take the rap and vocal positions in IVE. Hankook Ilbo described her as being from Japan in an article of 17 November that year and carried her own introduction: “My Korean is good, so the members call me Kim Rei. I take the rap position in IVE.”

The solo track she wrote and sang

REVIVE+ fills its back half with one solo song per member, and the one Rei sings is ‘In Your Heart’. The album information on Bugs credits the lyrics to Rei and Rick Bridges and the composition to Rick Bridges, steven, DEEVAN and Rei. Set against the other eleven tracks on the same page, it is the only one with a member’s name in the composing credit.

Han Sung-hyun of IZM, writing about the record on 9 March 2026, singled out ‘In Your Heart’ and Gaeul’s ‘Odd’. He wrote that the pair “do not stop at rediscovering a character but push all the way to getting the most out of it”, and described ‘In Your Heart’ as a song that pours a rap performance into digicore.

As a host

Rei has taken the microphone on music shows and at award shows several times. Sports Kyunghyang reported on 29 August 2025 that she was the special host of KBS 2TV’s Music Bank that day, adding that she had hosted the Asia Star Entertainer Awards that May and was running a weekly web variety show, 따라해볼레이 (Ttarahae-bol Rei).

The following year it was Mnet’s turn. Star News reported on 12 February 2026 that Rei and Gaeul were the special hosts of M Countdown that day.

The brands that called her name

Star News reported on 2 February 2026 that the Italian house Maison Valentino had named Rei and Liz official brand ambassadors. The two attended the haute couture collection show in Paris on 28 January as ambassadors, and the article carried their words: “We are genuinely delighted and grateful to serve as official ambassadors.”

Cosmetics followed that summer. In a press release of 19 August 2026, Aekyung Industrial said it had appointed Rei global ambassador of its make-up brand AGE20’S, and that a global rebranding would begin in the second half of 2026.
