Who is Sakura?
Sakura is a member of LE SSERAFIM. The Japanese official site gives her stage name as SAKURA, and the Korean press usually writes her full name, Miyawaki Sakura. RBB TODAY introduced her on 25 August 2026 as being from Kagoshima Prefecture.
A theatre in Fukuoka
Her first stage was in Fukuoka. Natalie reported that on 26 November 2011 HKT48 began its first theatre performances in the group’s own theatre, opened inside the Hawks Town Mall in Fukuoka, and that sixteen members chosen from the twenty-one of the first generation took the stage; Miyawaki Sakura is on that list. In 2014 her concurrent position in AKB48 was announced (RBB TODAY), and she took the centre position on the AKB48 single ‘Kimi wa Melody’ (OTOTOY, 20 June 2021).
Work off the stage began then too. In 2015 she co-starred with Shimazaki Haruka in Nippon TV’s drama Majisuka Gakuen 4, playing a transfer student named Sakura (Billboard Japan, 3 January 2015), and in March 2018 she opened her own gaming YouTube channel (Real Sound).
That year she debuted in Korea with IZ*ONE after Mnet’s Produce 48. Seoul Shinmun reported the showcase for the first album COLOR*IZ at the Olympic Hall in Songpa-gu, Seoul on 29 October 2018, and she is among the twelve members the same report names. After IZ*ONE’s activities ended, she made her graduation from HKT48 official on a live broadcast for the group’s new single on 15 May 2021 (Sports Kyunghyang), and held her graduation concert at Marine Messe Fukuoka on 19 June (HKT48 official).
A third debut, and after
In March 2022 she signed an exclusive contract with SOURCE MUSIC (RBB TODAY), and on 4 April she was the first of the new girl group’s members to be introduced, one a day. iMBC Entertainment reported that her photos and video went up at midnight on the official social accounts and the HYBE LABELS YouTube channel. At the debut media showcase on 2 May she said: “For me this is a third debut. Maybe that’s why it weighs on me a little more, and I feel I have to do even better.”
Her name appears in the lyrics credits too. Weverse Magazine’s October 2022 interview for the second mini album ANTIFRAGILE pointed to ‘Good Parts (when the quality is bad but I am)’ as a song whose lyrics she worked on. She wrote the lyrics of ‘Swan Song’ on the 2024 third mini album EASY with Kim Chaewon, Huh Yunjin and Kazuha (Star News), and said she wrote them while on tour, pointing to the line “살기 위한 dancing” — dancing to stay alive (Weverse Magazine). The label credits also list her among the lyricists of ‘CRAZY’ and ‘SPAGHETTI’.
In 겁도 없꾸라 (Geopdo Eopkkura), a web show first released on 23 November 2022, she was the sole host for half a year. According to iMBC Entertainment she began with making 100kg of kimchi and went on to action scenes, a part-time job at a rice-cake shop over the Lunar New Year and catching octopus on the mudflats, and she called the show “a new challenge for me”.
Things made by hand
Her knitting became a brand. On 14 January 2025 KKUROCHET, a crochet merchandise line she planned herself, launched on Weverse Shop. Ilgan Sports reported that the naming, the patterns and samples and the logo design all passed through her hands, and she said: “I started knitting to make good use of the short waits between schedules, but now it has become how I recharge.” In January 2026 she became ambassador of Couturier, a Japanese handicraft kit brand, launching a collaboration line she planned and supervised, and on 15 January she appeared as a guest on a handicraft programme on NHK E-tele (Natalie).
On 2 June the same year Maybelline New York Japan announced her as the ambassador of its Body Mascara, and on 25 September the jewellery house Damiani welcomed her as a Friend of the House (FASHIONSNAP).
