Who is Huh Yunjin?
Huh Yunjin is a member of LE SSERAFIM and a singer-songwriter who writes and releases her own songs. Star News reported on 24 August 2021 that she was born in Korea and raised in the United States, passed an audition PLEDIS Entertainment held in New York in 2017, became a trainee in January 2018 and took part in Mnet’s Produce 48 that year. In a Weverse Magazine interview she recalled school in the US: she acted in the drama club, did musicals and the French club, and played on the hockey team.
The songwriting began before the debut. NME reported in an interview on 15 August 2023 that she had been working on songs with SOURCE MUSIC, for herself and for the group, long before the group’s existence was known, and she said that before then she had made things in her bedroom but never let anyone hear them.
On 9 April 2022 she was introduced as the sixth and last member. Newsis reported that she played an electric guitar in the introduction video. At the debut media showcase on 2 May she said of the group’s name: “I remember the day I first heard the explanation of the name — I got goosebumps and cried” (Hankook Ilbo).
Five songs of her own
The first song arrived with the fandom’s name. According to Xports News, ‘Raise y_our glass’ went up on SoundCloud at 8:08 pm on 9 August 2022 to mark 8 August, the day the official fandom name FEARNOT was announced; the title joins Y, for Huh Yunjin, and Our, for “us”, to make Your. The second song, ‘I ≠ DOLL’, is a rock-based trap song released at 2 pm on 9 January 2023, and at the same hour ‘Raise y_our glass’ became an official release (SBS Entertainment News).
At 1 pm on 14 March 2023 came ‘피어나도록 (love you twice)’ (Pieonadorok), with a music video made with the animator Lamdaram (Sports Hankook). The fourth song, ‘blessing in disguise’, was released on 14 August that year with a music video she shot herself (Newsis). The fifth, ‘해파리’ (Haepari, “jellyfish”), came out on 10 January 2025, and the handwriting in its music video is her own (Sports Kyunghyang). Star News reported that the concept photographs were taken by the artist Octo, who photographed the cover of Han Kang’s novel The Vegetarian, and that the collaboration came about because Huh Yunjin contacted the artist herself.
In July 2025 Star News reported that the five songs had been streamed about 130.25 million times on Spotify as of 9 July, and that she had been selected that day as a voting member of the US Recording Academy. According to the Financial News, those voting rights began with the 68th Grammy Awards, held on 1 February 2026.
In the group’s songs
At the time of the debut album she told Weverse Magazine: “The first line I wrote ended up being exactly my part!” Sports Kyunghyang noted that she worked on ‘Impurities’, ‘No Celestial’ and ‘Good Parts (when the quality is bad but I am)’ on the second mini album ANTIFRAGILE. For the same album’s ‘The Hydra’ teaser, at the production team’s request she wrote the narration line “I’m a mess mess mess” and recorded it the day before it went out (Weverse Magazine, 25 October 2022).
Her first production credit was ‘피어나’ (Pieona), a track on the first full-length album UNFORGIVEN, released on 1 May 2023. At the release showcase she introduced the song, whose lyrics all five members wrote, as “the first song I produced, so it’s one I personally treasure” (Sports Kyunghyang). The label credits also list her among the lyricists of the English single ‘Perfect Night’ that October. She was later the main producer of ‘미치지 못하는 이유’ (Michiji Motaneun Iyu), a track on the fourth mini album, and co-wrote the lyrics of ‘Kawaii (Prod. Gen Hoshino)’ on the fourth Japanese single in June 2025 with Gen Hoshino (Star News). On the second full-length album PUREFLOW pt.1, released on 22 May 2026, she worked on eight songs, from ‘CELEBRATION’ to ‘Liminal Space’ (The Fact).
Her voice off the stage
In April 2024 she shot her first pictorial as an ambassador for M·A·C Korea, and Xports News reported her saying in the interview: “Then doesn’t something beautiful ultimately mean being yourself?” Ahead of the group’s first North American tour in September 2025 she said: “This is the first time I’m performing in my hometown. I’m happy to perform in front of the family and friends who have supported me until now” (iMBC Entertainment).
On 7 September 2026 her programme HMM, part of HYBE Media Studio’s podcast STAN:A, was released first on Spotify. According to OSEN, HMM is short for Huh’s Memo, and it is a spoken essay in which she shares her inner thoughts. The English edition of Sports Kyunghyang reported that all eight episodes are in English.
