Who are SEVENTEEN?

SEVENTEEN (세븐틴) are a thirteen-member group under Pledis Entertainment: S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, DK, Mingyu, The8, Seungkwan, Vernon and Dino. They held their debut showcase at MBC Dream Center in Ilsan on 26 May 2015, and the debut mini album 17 CARAT went on sale three days later, on the 29th. Their fandom is called CARAT.

A group that makes its own work

OSEN reported on the day of the debut that member Woozi wrote, composed and produced the title track ‘Adore U’, and that Hoshi finished its choreography as the performance director. The same report described the group as three units — hip-hop, performance and vocal. That structure still holds: as at Glastonbury, each unit takes its own stage inside a single set. Marie Claire Korea noted in September 2025 that Woozi wrote and composed ‘Pretty U’, ‘Very Nice’, ‘Clap’, ‘Super’ and ‘MAESTRO’ himself.

There are combinations beyond the three units. BSS — Seungkwan, DK and Hoshi — first appeared with the 2018 digital single ‘Just Do It’ and returned in 2023 with ‘Fighting (Feat. Lee Young Ji)’ from the first single album SECOND WIND. In July 2026 TenAsia listed the official units as BSS, Jeonghan X Wonwoo, Hoshi X Woozi, S.Coups X Mingyu, DK X Seungkwan and V8 (The8 and Vernon), and reported that Jeonghan and Joshua would become the seventh. TenAsia reported on the release day, 19 October 2026, that the pair’s first mini album, DREAMSCAPE, would come out at 6 p.m. KST that evening.

On stage

The FOLLOW tour, which opened in Seoul in July 2023, ran for about six months across nine cities — Seoul, Tokyo, Saitama, Nagoya, Osaka, Fukuoka, Bangkok, Bulacan and Macau — over 20 shows, and The Fact counted more than 700,000 fans. Twelve of those shows were Japanese dome dates, with an audience of about 515,000. The FOLLOW AGAIN encore in spring 2024 opened with two nights and about 56,000 people at Incheon Asiad Main Stadium and went on to eight shows in four cities.

The RIGHT HERE world tour opened at Goyang Sports Complex’s main stadium in October 2024, where the two Goyang nights drew about 58,000. The tenth-anniversary NEW_ tour began on 13 and 14 September 2025 at Incheon Asiad Main Stadium with about 54,000 people, passed through two nights at Kai Tak Stadium in Hong Kong at the end of February 2026 (about 73,000), and closed with an encore at the same Incheon stadium on 4 and 5 April. Herald Business reported a total of 31 shows in 14 cities including the encore, and more than 900,000 people counting online and in-person audiences together.

Awards and UNESCO

At the 2023 MAMA AWARDS at Tokyo Dome on 29 November 2023 the group won Album of the Year. At the Golden Disc Awards they took the album grand prize twice: in January 2024 for the tenth mini album FML, and in January 2025 for the twelfth, SPILL THE FEELS.

On 14 November 2023 the group led a special session of the 13th UNESCO Youth Forum at UNESCO headquarters in Paris, where Seungkwan, Jun, Woozi, Mingyu, Joshua and Vernon spoke in Korean, English and Chinese. On 26 June the following year they were appointed UNESCO Goodwill Ambassadors for Youth at the same building and set up a youth fund with 1 million US dollars; in August 2025 they gave a further 250,000 dollars raised at a charity auction. Herald Business wrote that the money supports self-led projects by 100 youth groups.

Where to start

“THUNDER” is the title track of HAPPY BURSTDAY, the fifth full-length album, released on 26 May 2025 — ten years to the day after the debut. The album carries three group songs and a solo track for each of the thirteen members.

Several members are currently completing South Korea’s mandatory military service, which the group has been staggering; Jeonghan was discharged in June 2026, the first of the thirteen. In July 2026 Pledis said all thirteen had agreed to a second contract renewal, with those still serving to sign as they are discharged.
