Two Funds for Geoje's Floods: RESCENE's 50 Million Won and REMINE's 112,537,680 Won
After the 15 to 17 August 2026 downpour in Geoje, RESCENE gave the city 50 million won on 19 August in the name of its fandom REMINE, and REMINE's own drive, joined by 2,355 fans from 18 to 31 August, handed 112,537,680 won to Hope Bridge. Geoje is the hometown of the leader, Woni.
After the downpour that fell on Geoje, South Gyeongsang, from 15 to 17 August 2026, money gathered around RESCENE along two paths. One was the members’. On 19 August, Geoje city announced that RESCENE had donated 50 million won together with the name of its fandom, REMINE. The other was the fans’. A donation page opened in REMINE’s name at the Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association on 18 August and, over the two weeks to the 31st, 2,355 people gave 112,537,680 won. Geoje is the hometown of the leader, Woni, and RESCENE has been the city’s ambassador since May. Here is how the two donations were made, in the order they were reported.
15 to 17 August: the rain over Geoje
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration figures cited by Sports Kyunghyang, 928.0mm of rain fell on Geoje and 752.8mm on Tongyeong in South Gyeongsang over the three days from 15 to 17 August. On the 17th alone, 654.3mm fell on Geoje, the third-highest daily total on record. The same report said the area saw flooded homes and roads and residents cut off. Edaily described the damage in Geoje as flooding and landslides, and damage to roads and facilities.
19 August: the members’ 50 million won
On 19 August, Geoje city announced that RESCENE had donated 50 million won together with the name of its fandom REMINE, for the recovery from the recent downpour in Geoje and for displaced residents’ return to daily life. According to Edaily, RESCENE was reported to have decided on the gift to help affected residents and support a swift recovery, as damage followed the downpour of 15 to 17 August. Byun Gwang-yong (변광용), the mayor of Geoje, said that the warmth RESCENE had shown would be a great comfort and strength to the city’s residents, and that the money would be used carefully for recovery and for residents’ swift return to daily life. Geoje News added in a 1 September report that the members also supplied drinks needed for the relief work on the ground. Ilgan Sports, reporting the same donation, noted that RESCENE is serving as the city’s ambassador.
18 to 31 August: REMINE’s drive
The fans’ donation page opened on 18 August. According to Sports Kyunghyang, a dedicated page opened that day at the Hope Bridge Korea Disaster Relief Association in the name of RESCENE’s fandom REMINE, to help neighbours hit by the downpour in South Gyeongsang; fans posted proof of their donations on social media and encouraged others to join, and by 9 a.m. on the 19th more than 40 million won had come in. According to a RESCENE fan gallery’s count relayed by Ilgan Sports, the total stood at 101,235,391 won from 2,117 donors as of 9 a.m. on the 21st. The drive closed on the 31st. Geoje News reported that Hope Bridge said on 31 August that REMINE had given a total of 112,537,680 won through the drive it ran over the two weeks from 18 to 31 August, and YTN Star and Herald Business reported the sum that day as about 110 million won from 2,355 participants. According to the association’s account cited by YTN Star, the drive began when one fan, having heard of the flood damage in the hometown of Woni, a native of Geoje and the city’s ambassador, proposed a fund and left an enquiry with the association. Hope Bridge said that one fan’s sincerity had moved more than 2,300 people and grown into a miraculous fund of over 100 million won. According to Herald Business, the money goes to flood recovery and emergency support for displaced residents in Geoje, Tongyeong and elsewhere in the south.
Where the two donations meet
Herald Business put the two donations in one paragraph in its 31 August report: RESCENE, too, had joined in, handing money to Geoje city in REMINE’s name on 19 August. The members’ 50 million won went to Geoje city; the fans’ fund goes through Hope Bridge to Geoje, Tongyeong and elsewhere in the south. The name on both is REMINE. According to the same report, REMINE said it hoped the comfort and happiness the fans had found through RESCENE would reach neighbours going through great hardship. The tie between Geoje and RESCENE predates the donations. According to Sports Kyunghyang, Geoje is the hometown of the leader, Woni; after Woni’s own YouTube channel showed the members visiting Geoje, the ‘Geoje, yaho’ line from that video drew wide attention, and the city later appointed RESCENE as its ambassador. Edaily dated the appointment to May and reported that RESCENE has since taken part in promotional work for the city. The donation was reported in Japan as well: on 20 August, Kstyle relayed Hope Bridge’s announcement and wrote that RESCENE had donated 50 million won under its fandom name REMINE.
