Zena's Chuseok Trot Medley: 18 Million Views and a Reverse Run for 'Ppang Ppang'

What happened

Zena of RESCENE (리센느) sang a trot medley on ‘Hello, this is Woni, nice to meet you’ (Anwonjalbu), the YouTube channel of fellow member Woni. In ‘[추석 특집] 제나의 트로트 메들리’ (“Chuseok special: Zena’s trot medley”), posted on 18 September 2026, she sang six songs in a row, opening with Go Bong-san’s ‘용두산 엘레지’ (Yongdusan Elleji) and going on to Park Sang-cheol’s ‘빵빵’ (Ppang Ppang), Oh Seung-geun’s ‘내 나이가 어때서’ (Nae Naiga Eottaeseo), Park Ji-hyun’s ‘녹아버려요’ (Noga Beoryeoyo), and Jang Yoon-jeong’s ‘어머나’ (Eomeona) and ‘초혼’ (Chohon). Woni, Liv, Minami and May sang the chorus behind her. According to News1, Zena opened the video by saying she had prepared the stage so that viewers would have a bountiful Chuseok.

Why is it trending?

The view count passed 18 million within a month of upload. It was 8.7 million on 23 September according to Segye Ilbo and 14 million on 1 October according to Edaily, and on 16 October Jeonnam Ilbo put it at 18.09 million. Jeonnam Ilbo noted that this came about three weeks after the upload.

The singers whose songs she chose responded as well. Jang Yoon-jeong, who first sang ‘어머나’ and ‘초혼’, left a comment under the video that MyDaily and Edaily quoted in the same words: “A friend as good as a tonic! Fancy taking up trot?” Segye Ilbo reported that she later thanked Zena and the other RESCENE members on her social media and posted a short in which she danced to RESCENE’s ‘LOVE ATTACK’ herself.
