The song
‘BiiiG’ is the digital single BIGBANG released at 6 p.m. KST on 19 August 2026. It is their first new music in four years and four months, since ‘봄여름가을겨울 (Still Life)’ in April 2022, and Newsis (뉴시스) reported that the release date fell exactly 20 years after the group’s debut on 19 August 2006. It is also the first record G-Dragon, Taeyang and Daesung have put out under the group’s name.
YG Entertainment’s album introduction describes the song as a grand, overwhelming hip hop beat carrying layers of sound worked for the ear. The same text says the writing holds the pride of 20 years spent at the top, the intoxication of youth, and an affection for the ‘Bangbong’ light stick that stands for the fandom V.I.P, and it picks out the metaphors that pay homage to Salvador Dalí and Muhammad Ali, and an energy that recalls the group’s own ‘붉은 노을 (Bulgeun Noeul)’, whose name means a red evening glow. G-Dragon wrote the lyrics with lil aaron and Kaine, and IDO and BLOODY arranged it; Newsis names TEDDY, KUSH, 24, IDO, BLOODY and TARZZAN as the producers.
Reviews
IZM’s Park Seung-min covered the song on 3 September 2026. He wrote that “rather than the quick-rhythm drum and bass K-pop has been reaching for lately, they took the jump-up strain, and so kept alive the groove that comes out of a thick bass”. He heard the same intent in G-Dragon’s rapping: stripping out his usual intonation and tossing the lines off, he wrote, is a change that meets the direction the song is going in.
Debashree Dutta covered it for Rolling Stone India the day after release, on 20 August. She wrote: “The sound is structured around a driving loop and a hook that draws your attention with a gritty edge, proving that, even as a three-piece unit, BigBang’s presence and impact remain very strong.” Of the writing she wrote that “lyrically, the song is an unbothered victory lap, combining pride with a dash of artistic wit”, and she read the passage that calls the fandom by name and nods to the glow of the light sticks as the point where the song turns from a boast into a celebration of two decades. On the video she wrote that it “translates this audio flex into a chaotic, cinematic carnival that plays right into the concept of their return”.
Numbers
Newsis reported that the song reached number one on Melon’s TOP100 within an hour of release, and that reaching the top of a chart which adds 24 hours of listening to the most recent hour in that time is unusual. The same report has it at number one on the real-time charts of Genie, Bugs and VIBE as well.
On Circle Chart’s Digital Chart the song was at number three in week 34 of 2026 (16 to 22 August), the week of release, and at number three again the following week, week 35 (23 to 29 August).
