The song

‘DRAMA’ is a song from G-Dragon’s third full-length album Übermensch. The eight-track album was released on 25 February 2025 through Galaxy Corporation, and the song’s official video went up on his channel the same day. On the label’s own track order it is the fourth song. NME reports that it was written with the American songwriter Diane Warren.

Reviews

NME’s Rhian Daly, reviewing the album the day after release, placed the song among the parts of the record that deal with a relationship. She describes it as “a ballad reminiscent of ‘Untitled, 2014’ that finds G-Dragon delivering lyrics in English, Korean, Chinese and Japanese”, and, listing the names the album drew, notes that “‘Drama’ was co-written with US hitmaker Diane Warren (Lady Gaga, Mariah Carey)”.

Lee Deok-haeng of ize (아이즈), writing on the day of release, read the song as the opening of the album’s second stretch. He wrote that the run of songs from ‘DRAMA’ through ‘IBELONGIIU’, ‘TAKE ME’, ‘보나마나 (BONAMANA)’ and ‘GYRO-DROP’ each carries an appeal of its own, and that across those eight tracks — beginning with ‘DRAMA’, which calls ‘무제 (Untitled, 2014)’ to mind, and ending with ‘GYRO-DROP’, where the rapping stands out most — G-Dragon shows the width of his range.

IZM’s Son Min-hyeon reached for the same comparison. Setting out how the album moves, he called the song the 2025 version of ‘무제 (Untitled, 2014)’.

Billboard put Übermensch on “The 25 Best K-Pop Albums of 2025: Staff Picks” on 18 December 2025. The entry, signed by Jeff Benjamin, reads that “the Dianne Warren-assisted ‘Drama’, ‘Take Me’, ‘Gyro-Drop’ and ‘Too Bad’, featuring Anderson .Paak, all have a more mature, timeless feel, rounding out a true career milestone project”.

On the album

Übermensch is G-Dragon’s first full-length album since COUP D’ETAT in 2013, twelve years earlier, and his first release of any album length since the 2017 mini album 권지용 (KWON JI YONG); NME and ize each state one of those facts. The album’s title track is its third track, ‘TOO BAD’, and ‘DRAMA’ follows it as the fourth.
