The record
Stand Up is BIGBANG’s third mini album, released on 8 August 2008 with six tracks. The title track is ‘Haru Haru’. OSEN reported on 29 July 2008 that its release had been moved from 1 August to 8 August.
YG Entertainment’s album introduction presents it as a record with several producers on it. According to the same text, it carries two songs G-Dragon made with the Japanese producer Daishi Dance; T.O.P, joining as co-producer, brought in a genre BIGBANG had not done before; and the producing pair Teddy and Kush also took part.
Among the tracks
‘Haru Haru’ is the title track OSEN described as G-Dragon’s melody, rap and lyrics set on a backing track by Daishi Dance. In its 2020 selection of 50 BIGBANG tracks, The Korea Herald called the third track, ‘My Heaven’ (천국), “a younger brother of ‘Haru Haru’”, writing that the catchy and straightforward song shares an “eerily similar sound” with it. On the last track, ‘Oh My Friend’, the rock band No Brain features, as the album introduction notes.
Numbers
Sports Kyunghyang reported on 7 September 2008 that ‘Haru Haru’ had won the Mutizen Song on SBS Inkigayo three weeks running from 24 August, and reached number one on the K-Chart of KBS2’s Music Bank on 5 September. How the song came to be, and the video Infinite Challenge shot again that December, are told in the story on ‘Lies’ and ‘Haru Haru’.
