Lee Chae-young is a member of fromis_9, the five-member girl group under ASND. She came through Mnet's Idol School in 2017, debuted on 24 January 2018, wrote the lyrics of 'Cold Blood' on the 2026 album Glow ME, and is honorary general manager of the e-sports club Hanwha Life Esports.
The first song Lee Chae-young wrote lyrics for is ‘Cold Blood’, on the second full-length album Glow ME, released on 21 July 2026. It is a unit track she sings with Lee Na-gyung and Baek Ji-heon, and how she came to write it is told in the story of her first lyrics. In the August 2026 issue of Esquire Korea she described the song’s narrator, saying that when she sees someone who is extremely cold, she takes it that there is some hidden pain inside them.
A year earlier, around the five-member line-up’s first record, From Our 20’s, she gave a solo interview to Man Noblesse for its August 2025 issue. In it, as Sports Kyunghyang reported on 29 July 2025, she said the B-side ‘Merry Go Round’ moved her more because its story goes round like a carousel and comes back to the fans in the end, that nothing means as much as being a comfort to someone, and that she would choose to be a singer again if she were born again.
Lee Chae-young has hosted web series on her own. Weverse Magazine reported on 20 August 2024 on her time as host of 이덕후 (I-deokhu), the Hanwha Life Esports web variety show in which she learned e-sports, and quoted her saying the show had taught her that “you just have to try it”, taken away her worries and changed her personality. On 13 June 2025 MUSINSA TV launched 성수기 (Seongsugi), a seasonal series with her as its only cast member. Esquire Korea, on 20 April 2026, grouped 성수기 with Hanwha Life Esports’ 이덕후 and 이단장 (I-danjang) series as the shows she hosts alone, and noted that a new season of 이단장 would start in May.
The title of 이단장 is her role at the e-sports club Hanwha Life Esports, where she is honorary general manager. Xports News reported on 1 July 2026 what she said about the club reaching an international tournament: that she was genuinely glad it had qualified for MSI through the Road to MSI, and that she sincerely hoped it would do well there.
She has taken that hosting to television. Star News reported on 21 September 2026 that she would host 계약결혼 (Gyeyak Gyeolhon), a marriage-simulation observational reality show from the producer Nam Gyu-hong on MBC every1 and KBS Joy, with Ahn Jung-hwan and Hyoyeon. It premiered on 28 September, and she said she wanted her reactions to be as honest and natural as she could make them, so that viewers her own age could relate. OSEN reported that her appearance on KBS2’s 살림하는 남자들 시즌2 (Sallimhaneun Namjadeul Season 2) on 25 July 2026 was her second, after episode 421 on 6 December 2025, when the group was releasing ‘하얀 그리움’.
She has thrown a ceremonial first pitch in two consecutive seasons. TopStar News reported on 26 March 2026 that she would pitch at the Samsung Lions against Lotte Giants opener at Daegu Samsung Lions Park on 28 March, and noted in the same piece that she had also pitched in the second game of the 2025 opening series.
The footwear brand SUPRA, run by F&F, named her an ambassador in September 2024 and released a photo shoot with her (Korea Textile News), and the beauty brand 3CE named her its Korean local model in September 2026 (Sportal Korea).
