Who is Song Ha-young?
Song Ha-young (송하영) is a member of fromis_9. She was born on 29 September 1997. The group debuted as nine on 24 January 2018 with the mini album To. Heart; after the exclusive contract with Pledis Entertainment ended, five members signed with the newly founded ASND in 2025 and resumed under the same name.
The road to that debut ran through Idol School, Mnet’s survival programme of 2017. Kyeongin Ilbo reported on 30 September 2017 that the final broadcast had settled the nine-member debut line-up and named Song Ha-young among them, and News1 carried the same nine that day. Those nine debuted as fromis_9 four months later.
She has worked outside the group’s own releases as well. TopStar News reported on 22 October 2019 that she joined the chef Kim So-hee in her cooking segment on MBC’s My Little Television V2. On 29 June 2026 she presented her first broadcast as special DJ of SBS Power FM’s Wendy’s Young Street, and the broadcaster published the full studio video of that show on its own channel. Frameless reported that she was the show’s special DJ for the broadcast of 1 July as well. She has worked alongside Lee Na-gyung too. Sports Kyunghyang reported on 26 November 2024 that the two released ‘봄처럼 다가와’, the eighth part of the soundtrack for the ENA drama Brewing Love. Star News reported on 19 June 2026 that the two appear together in 방판소녀들 (Bangpan Sonyeodeul), a web-variety series from the production company Studio Bridge whose first episode went up on 15 June, meeting members of the public around Seoul.
What she worked on for the album
Glow ME, the second full-length album released on 21 July 2026, carries songs she worked on. TenAsia published the track list on 8 July and wrote that all five members are credited for writing and composing across the record, and that the eighth track, ‘Why do I cry?’, is sung by Song Ha-young and Park Ji-won.
In a written interview published by Star News the day before release, on 20 July 2026, she said that coming back with a full-length album had made finished quality the thing she cared about most, and that she wanted the album to prove the group could still show something new nine years in. She named ‘Why do I cry?’ and ‘Screen Time’, which she worked on, as the tracks she is fondest of: reading the lyrics of the first with Park Ji-won in the car felt like words the two were handing each other, she said, and made her look back at the years behind them. The biggest difference from the group’s earlier records, she said, is that every member took part in writing.
Weverse Magazine had interviewed her before that. In the interview of 28 January 2022 she said she wanted other people to feel the emotions she had felt, and that she wanted to be the kind of friend Flover keeps wanting to see and spend time with.
What to watch
The music video for ‘Vitamin ME’, the title track of Glow ME, is a good place to start. The same album carries ‘Screen Time’, which she worked on, and ‘Why do I cry?’, which she sings with Park Ji-won. Official music videos and the group’s self-produced content are on the fromis_9 YouTube channel, and K-Culture Radar links to official uploads rather than rehosting them.
