Who are fromis_9?
fromis_9 (프로미스나인) is a five-member girl group under ASND. The five are Song Ha-young, Park Ji-won, Lee Chae-young, Lee Na-gyung and Baek Ji-heon, and their fandom is called flover. The name was announced on the group’s first anniversary, 24 January 2019, and joins the words fromis and clover.
Nine at the start
The group was formed on 29 September 2017, when the final episode of Mnet’s Idol School settled the nine who would debut. Four months later, on 24 January 2018, they debuted with the first mini album To. Heart, and all nine stood on stage at that afternoon’s showcase in Myeongdong, Seoul. The album’s introduction describes the title track ‘To Heart’ as a pop dance song built on “a distinctive blend of a rocking guitar riff and strings”. All nine wrote and narrated the intro track. Idology’s Third wrote that “for a debut album, its finish leaves little to fault”.
The years the colour changed
The group’s colour changed with its third mini album, My Little Society (16 September 2020). Its title track, ‘Feel Good (SECRET CODE)’, is built on a funky 1980s-style guitar riff. IZM’s Hwang Seon-eop found “the idea of bringing in a proven legacy from the past and turning it into the team’s own charm rather interesting”. Their first release after moving to Pledis Entertainment in August 2021 was the special single Talk & Talk.
‘DM’, the title track of the fourth mini album Midnight Guest (January 2022), made IZM’s monthly picks and the year-end lists of Billboard and Idology. For from our Memento Box that June the group shot the video in Saipan, and The Korea Herald reported five music-show trophies for ‘Stay This Way’. Their first full album, Unlock My World, came out on 5 June 2023, five years after debut, and its track ‘Eye Contact’ carries lyrics all the members wrote to their fans. The August 2024 single Supersonic gave the group its first top 10 on the Billboard South Korea Songs chart.
Five, and a second start
The exclusive contract with Pledis Entertainment ended in December 2024. The five members signed with the new agency ASND in January 2025, and once talks on the use of the name were settled they returned as fromis_9 that March. Their first record as five was the mini album From Our 20’s (25 June 2025), whose title track ‘LIKE YOU BETTER’ is a summer song of synths and guitar riffs. That December their remake of Kim Min-jong’s ‘White Memories’ reached number one on KBS2’s Music Bank.
2026: Glow ME and the first Asia tour
The second full album, Glow ME, came out with ten tracks on 21 July 2026. Its introduction calls it “an album about the journey of finding the ‘me’ that shines most brightly”, and every member took part in the songwriting. With the Latin-rhythm title track ‘Vitamin ME’ the group won Show Champion on 29 July, then Music Bank and Show! Music Core. The album also carries the unit song ‘Cold Blood’, Lee Chae-young’s first lyric (story).
The Asia tour TOMORROW GLOW. opened with three nights in Seoul, 4 to 6 September, at Korea University’s Hwajeong Gymnasium. “We could come this far because flover were always by our side,” the members said. The shows are described in the story on the Seoul opening.

Named among the 30 nominees for the 2026 Melon Music Awards (MMA2026) TOP10 main prize
Melon announced the list on 15 October. The TOP10 picks 10 acts by adding digital music 60%, judging 20% and a vote 20%, and the ceremony is on 14 to 15 November at Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul.
