The First Lyrics Lee Chae-young Wrote: fromis_9's 'Cold Blood'

What happened

fromis_9 released their second full-length album, Glow ME, on 21 July 2026. It carries ten tracks and the title track is ‘Vitamin ME’. The seventh track, ‘Cold Blood’, is the first song Lee Chae-young wrote lyrics for. In a written interview published by Star News the day before release she named it as her first, and said it was so much her own style that her heart raced the first time she heard it. In the same interview Lee Chae-young said she wanted fromis_9 to be something like a vitamin this summer, giving strength and energy to everyone who listens to their music.

‘Cold Blood’ is a unit song sung by three members: Lee Chae-young, Lee Na-gyung and Baek Ji-heon. According to the song information on Bugs, the lyricists credited alongside Lee Chae-young are Tomy, Megan Redmond, Brooke Tomlinson and Bendik Moller, and the arrangement is by Jacob Ubizz and Lukas Kragh. It runs two minutes and 49 seconds. In the same interview Lee Na-gyung also picked ‘Cold Blood’ as her favourite song on the album, saying it was a style they were trying for the first time, so recording it felt hard at times, but she is truly happy with the result.

Why is it trending?

It is fromis_9’s first full-length album in about three years, since Unlock My World in 2023, and in the meantime Lee Chae-young put her own lyrics on a record for the first time. The title track ‘Vitamin ME’ took first place on Show Champion on 29 July 2026, eight days after release, and on 18 August Marie Claire Korea ran a shoot and interview with Lee Chae-young and Lee Na-gyung.

She is not the only member who wrote lyrics. In the Star News interview, Song Ha-young named the biggest change from the first full-length album as every member taking part in making the songs. According to the album introduction on Bugs, Song Ha-young took part in writing the lyrics and music of ‘Screen Time’ and Park Ji-won of ‘Teacher’, while Baek Ji-heon took part in the lyrics of ‘DAY1’ and Lee Na-gyung in those of ‘Wonderland’.
