Chenle is a member of NCT DREAM, the six-member SM Entertainment group who began with the debut single ‘Chewing Gum’ in August 2016. The South China Morning Post wrote that he was born in Shanghai in November 2001, performed in China from a young age and moved to South Korea in 2016.
SM Entertainment said on 20 August 2026 that Chenle and the five other members had all renewed their contracts.
On the sixth mini album Beat It Up, out on 17 November 2025, Chenle sang the unit track ‘Butterflies’ with Renjun and Haechan. The Korea Herald described it as an acoustic pop ballad over lyrical guitar.
