Who MEOVV are
MEOVV is a five-piece girl group signed to THEBLACKLABEL. The agency’s own site lists the members in this order: Sooin, Gawon, Anna, Narin and Ella. It introduces MEOVV as the first girl group the producer Teddy has launched at the company, and the Japanese official site says the name stands for “My Eyes Open Wide”.
Newsis reported on 6 September 2024 that the group’s debut single, ‘MEOW’, would be released at 6 p.m. that day. The second single, ‘TOXIC’, followed on 18 November with two title tracks, ‘TOXIC’ and ‘BODY’. Sports Kyunghyang reported that on 22 November MEOVV received the Favorite Rising Artist award at the 2024 MAMA AWARDS in Osaka, the group’s first award since debut. On 28 February 2025 L’Oréal Paris named MEOVV its brand ambassadors (Pickcon).
The members do more than sing the songs they are given. According to the credits in THEBLACKLABEL’s album introductions, Gawon and Narin have taken part in writing lyrics since ‘TOXIC’, and Ella is among the lyricists of two songs on the second mini album.
What the group is doing now
The official fandom name, PAWMPAWM, was announced on 24 March 2025. Soompi reported that it joins the French word pomme, meaning apple, and the English word paw.
The first mini album, MY EYES OPEN VVIDE, arrived on 12 May 2025. ‘HANDS UP’, pre-released on 28 April, topped Mnet’s M Countdown on 8 May, and Sports Kyunghyang reported that it was the group’s first music show win since debut. The mini album’s other title track is ‘DROP TOP’.
The first Japanese digital single, ‘ME ME ME’, came out on 29 July. The Japanese official site says it is the first song the members sang in Japanese. The digital single ‘BURNING UP’ followed on 14 October.
Awards followed that autumn and winter. At the 2025 Korea Grand Music Awards (KGMA), held at Inspire Arena in Incheon on 14 November 2025, MEOVV received the IS Rookie award and opened the first day with ‘BODY’, ‘BURNING UP’ and ‘HANDS UP’ (Ilgan Sports). On 6 December, at the 10th Anniversary Asia Artist Awards 2025 at Kaohsiung National Stadium in Taiwan, they won two awards, Best Musician and Best Music Video (Star News).
The second mini album, BITE NOW, was released at 6 p.m. on 1 June 2026. Herald Muse reported that it carries five new songs, the title track ‘DDI RO RI’ among them. The same outlet wrote that the title track samples Bach’s Toccata and Fugue in D minor. According to Ilgan Sports, MEOVV then promoted the title track and the B-sides ‘In my hands’ and ’Hit ‘Em’ on music shows for five weeks, the first time since debut that a run had lasted that long.
On 1 October 2026 THEBLACKLABEL announced that the new single ‘GO HARD’ would be released at 6 p.m. on 12 October (MK Sports).
