KISS OF LIFE's 'SWEAT': Afro-House Summer Single Explained

KISS OF LIFE released the Afro-house single 'SWEAT' on 4 August 2026 and won The Show with it on 11 August. How the group's summer comeback came together.

What happened

KISS OF LIFE released their third single, SWEAT, on 4 August 2026 at 6 p.m. KST, and the music video for its title track went up on the group’s official YouTube channel the same evening. The single has two tracks: the title track ‘SWEAT’ and one B-side, ‘What!’. Soompi describes the title track as an Afro-house song that blends electronic pop with Latin rhythms; The Korea Herald calls it Afro-house with Latin pop influences.

The release came about four months after the second single ‘Who is She’ in April 2026. Star News had reported an August return on 29 June, which the group’s official X account confirmed by reposting the article. On 20 July S2 Entertainment gave the date: a preview video of the four members rehearsing went out on the official channels at midnight, with the agency saying the members, ‘who have drawn public resonance with diverse keywords in each of their albums’, would present a new story. Soompi’s log of the campaign records a teaser schedule on 21 July, ‘Arid’ concept photos on 22 July, ‘OVERHEAT’ teaser clips on 24 July, a visualizer on 28 July, ‘Ignite’ concept photos on 29 July and two music video teasers on 30 and 31 July.

A week after release, on the 11 August 2026 episode of The Show, ‘SWEAT’ won the group’s first music-show trophy for the single with 8,868 points; the other first-place candidates were ARTMS’s ‘Born Stunner’ and POW’s ‘Flavor’. The next day it was one of five first-place candidates on Show Champion, where the group performed the song.

Summer has become a defining season in KISS OF LIFE’s career, as The Korea Herald put it. The debut single ‘Shhh’ arrived in July 2023, and ‘Sticky’, released in July 2024, became the breakthrough: The Korea Herald records it as the group’s first music-show win and the release that helped secure the Korean Music Awards’ rookie of the year honour, and both the Herald and the Korea JoongAng Daily have called the group a ‘summer queen’ since. The JoongAng Daily billed ‘SWEAT’ as the direct successor to ‘Sticky’, a dance-pop track built on Afrobeats rhythms, and the members told the Herald they deliberately sped up preparations to be back for the season. ‘We’ve always released music that fits the summer, so we wanted to prepare quickly and return with something everyone can enjoy during the season,’ Belle said.

The comeback also followed the chart run of ‘Who is She’. The April single landed in first place on television music chart shows twice, peaked at number 24 on Melon’s Hot 100 and entered Billboard’s world digital song sales chart at number six, according to The Korea Herald. Between the two singles the group released a Japanese digital single, ‘Break It’, on 4 July 2026, used as the ending theme of the anime Digimon Beatbreak. On 6 July the group uploaded a teaser that showed water evaporating under the sun before the phrase ‘Don’t let them see you sweat’ appeared.

That phrase is the song’s message, and the Korea JoongAng Daily reported that the members themselves chose ‘SWEAT’ as the title track because of it. ‘We worked incredibly hard to get where we are today, and that’s what I kept telling myself throughout our trainee years,’ Belle told the Herald. The song was first performed at the Waterbomb festival on 24 July 2026, before release. The choreography includes moves where the members wipe sweat away or flick it off, which Belle said is simple enough for anyone to follow. Haneul summed up the contrast with the group’s earlier hit: ‘If Sticky is a song for a hot day with a refreshing breeze, Sweat is for dancing on a scorching sandy beach.’ The B-side ‘What!’ is an EDM track Belle described as made for jumping and dancing at festivals.

The official music video, published on the KISS OF LIFE channel on 4 August, stood at 33,465,919 views on 26 August 2026. Three years after debut the Herald counts about 10 albums including Japanese releases. Julie said the group hoped to be remembered ‘not simply as the miracle of a smaller agency, but as a group that continues to create new miracles’.

A RESCENE fan chant (응원법) is not something the fandom compiled: it arrives in a video the group's official YouTube channel posts for each song. There are nine, from 'UhUh' in March 2024 to 'Pretty Girl' in July 2026, and this guide reads them against the songs' release dates.
