What happened

MBC named RESCENE its broadcast ambassador for the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games on 23 July 2026. Star News reported it that morning, and Break News, Sports Kyunghyang, The CEN News and Geumgang Ilbo followed the same day. Ahead of the Games, RESCENE filmed official promotional videos, sport introduction videos and messages of support for the South Korean delegation with MBC, and those videos are released in sequence during the Games through MBC’s Asian Games broadcasts, related programmes and digital platforms.

Woni and Minami appear in ‘Star Tutor RESCENE’, a special series with MBC’s commentators and analysts, Kim Sung-ju and Ahn Jung-hwan among them; its title borrows the Korean word for a star private-academy tutor. The two take on that role to introduce the culture, landmarks and key viewing points of the host cities, Nagoya and Aichi Prefecture, and according to Star News the series is scheduled to air in major Asian Games broadcasts, including the opening ceremony.

The first piece of content went up on the day of the appointment. According to Sports Kyunghyang, ‘스탐’, the official YouTube channel of MBC’s sports department, posted ‘나고 야호!’ — a pun folding the cheer ‘yaho’ into the city’s name — as the first special video made with RESCENE, alongside the appointment news. In it the members took on a game of matching movements to prompts drawn from the Games’ main sports, and the video closed on the message that the ways of competing differ while the way of cheering is one. The same report said Minami, the originator of ‘거제 야호’, closed the video by shouting ’나고 야호!’. ‘스탐’ also posted ‘RESCENE Making Film EP.1’, a behind-the-scenes cut of the shoot, that day.

RESCENE said: “We are extremely honored and delighted to serve as MBC’s promotional ambassador for the Asian Games broadcast. We will wholeheartedly cheer on South Korean athletes to showcase their best skills.” MBC said: “Alongside RESCENE, which brings youthful and fresh energy, we have prepared diverse content to make the Asian Games more accessible and enjoyable for everyone.”

With the 19 September opening ahead, MBC’s schedule came out in late August. According to Slist, MBC is covering the Games under the slogan “Together Asia, Together MBC”, starting on 10 September with the men’s basketball game between South Korea and Saudi Arabia and running to the closing ceremony on 4 October. The commentary line-up was announced on 20 August. According to Geumgang Ilbo, the broadcaster Kim Sung-ju hosts the opening ceremony and the football coverage, with the former footballer and broadcaster Ahn Jung-hwan and Seo Hyung-wook as football analysts. MBC’s News Today reported that baseball goes to the analysts Jung Min-chul and Oh Seung-hwan with the caster Kim Na-jin. Every night the highlights programme Together Asia, presented by the announcer Park Yeon-kyung, covers the main games and moments.

RESCENE’s place is inside that schedule. MBC released RESCENE’s official poster in two versions on 20 August. According to Slist, in the first the five members shout ‘Nagoya-ho’, the cheer used in the Games’ promotion, and strike the ‘yaho’ pose, and in the other they deliver a message of support for the delegation alongside a doll of MBC’s mascot Mbic. Segye Ilbo reported on 29 August that MBC is concentrating its pre-Games promotion on its commentary team and its ambassador, and wrote that RESCENE takes part in videos cheering the national team and in ‘Star Tutor RESCENE’, which introduces the host city Nagoya.
