What happened
RESCENE’s Woni will host the first day of the 2026 Korea Grand Music Awards, or 2026 KGMA, alongside the actor Nam Ji-hyun. Ilgan Sports reported it on 10 June 2026, saying the third edition of the ceremony runs on 7 and 8 November at Gocheok Sky Dome in Guro-gu, Seoul. Munhwa Ilbo and Sports Khan reported the same booking that day. According to Munhwa Ilbo, Nam Ji-hyun takes the role for a third consecutive year, and for Woni it is a first. The second day’s hosts were announced a day later, on 11 June: according to Ilgan Sports, the 8 November hosts are the actor Kim Jae-won and IVE’s Liz.
Why is it trending?
This is the first time Woni takes an awards stage as a host. Ilgan Sports introduced her as having debuted with RESCENE in March 2024, having been active since, and having recently been appointed an ambassador for the city of Geoje, and Munhwa Ilbo wrote that she has drawn attention for the down-to-earth manner she shows on her YouTube channel. Sports Khan reported that Nam Ji-hyun and Woni would, as the first day’s hosts, guide K-pop artists and fans through the K-pop dream. According to the same report, RESCENE was due to make its comeback that July with a remake single.
