Who is Ryo?
Ryo is a member of NCT WISH, the six-member SM Entertainment group who debuted on 21 February 2024 with ‘WISH’. THE FIRST TIMES and Mynavi News report that he was scouted at an NCT 127 concert, and an ELLE Korea interview of 30 March 2026 names it as the Saitama concert. He learned Korean afterwards. In the same interview he said: “At first it was hard learning Korean from a textbook, but now I think I’ve picked it up naturally, living with the members.”
LASTART’s first and last missions
On the pre-debut reality programme NCT Universe: LASTART, Ryo took on his first mission with Sakuya, performing NCT DREAM’s ‘Chewing Gum’. According to the assessments SM quoted when it introduced him on 26 January 2024, he sang NCT U’s ‘90’s Love’ in the final mission, and BoA told him: “Your stage manner and energy were good. The song itself felt like Ryo’s stage.” Eunhyuk said he “seemed to complete and lead the overall colour”.
How he approaches the stage
Before the Tokyo Dome show he played with his seniors soon after the debut, ORICON NEWS (22 February 2024) quoted him as saying that standing on the stage he had dreamed of alongside his seniors made him very nervous and excited at once. Two years later he told ELLE Korea: “I try to always go on with the same heart, whatever the size of the stage. A bigger venue might make you more nervous, but in the end the moment you step onto the stage is the same.”
In a Modelpress interview around Songbird (27 July 2024) he described himself as someone who would rather build up steadily than set off something explosive all at once. He told anan (1 February 2025) that the music video for ‘Wishful Winter’ features a character based on his treasured stuffed toy, Tonton. And after the show at K Arena Yokohama on 12 April 2026, he picked ‘Hello Mellow’, with its message of staying positive, as his recommendation in an ORICON NEWS interview.
