Sion is the leader of NCT WISH, the six-member SM Entertainment group who debuted on 21 February 2024 with ‘WISH’. Mynavi News wrote on 4 July 2024 that he was scouted through a message on social media and spent about four years as a trainee at SM.
He was first introduced on 28 June 2023, when SM posted two videos on the SMROOKIES accounts and the SMTOWN YouTube channel — one of Sion and one of Yushi — and presented the pair as new rookies in a press release the next day. The pre-debut reality programme NCT Universe: LASTART began that July, and according to avex’s official portal, Riku, Jaehee, Sakuya and Ryo, chosen through it, joined the two rookies to make six. The avex portal, THE FIRST TIMES and Mynavi News all name him as the group’s leader.
Apart from the group’s own activity, Sion has hosted music shows several times. Topstar News reports that on 6 July 2024 he was a special MC on episode 861 of MBC’s Show! Music Core, alongside THE BOYZ’s Younghoon. On 14 August 2025 SM announced that he would be special MC on Mnet’s M Countdown that day, noting that he had already filled the same role on Show! Music Core and SBS’s Inkigayo.
Star News reported on 13 July 2026 that Sion would host 2026 SBS Gayo Daejeon Summer, held on 9 August at KINTEX in Ilsan, with RIIZE’s Sungchan and Hearts2Hearts’ Ian. The work has reached beyond music shows too: Sports Kyunghyang reported on 3 September 2026 that he had recorded an appearance the day before as a special MC on KBS2’s The Return of Superman, with the broadcast set for October.
