NCT WISH's Japanese Single 'YO-I-DON! / BOY MEETS GIRL' Takes Their First Platinum

What happened

According to TenAsia, the Recording Industry Association of Japan announced platinum certification for NCT WISH’s single YO-I-DON! / BOY MEETS GIRL on 10 August 2026. The figure behind it was 250,000 shipments as of July. It is the first platinum certification the group has received from the association.

The single came out a month earlier, on 15 July 2026. The same outlet reported that it took first place on the Oricon daily singles ranking dated 17 July, and added in August that ‘YO-I-DON!’ had reached number three on Billboard Japan’s Hot 100.

In between, on 18 July, came Japanese broadcaster TBS’s The Music Day 2026. TenAsia and Star News reported that NCT WISH performed ‘BOY MEETS GIRL’ there alongside TRF, the Japanese group that released the original song in 1994. Star News reported that member Riku also appeared in a separate dance stage on the same broadcast, staged by s**t kingz.

One single passed through a chart, a broadcast and a certification inside a month: released on 15 July, first on the Oricon daily ranking on the 17th, on air on the 18th, certified on 10 August.

The song itself reaches further into Japan than the schedule does. ‘BOY MEETS GIRL’ is a new arrangement of a 1994 TRF song, built on synth bass, a house rhythm and rap — and the group that recorded the original stood on the same stage.
