The record
lip bomb is RESCENE’s third mini album, released on 25 November 2025 at 6 p.m. KST. It has five tracks: ‘Heart Drop’, ‘Bloom’, ‘Love Echo’, ‘Hello XO’ and ‘MVP’, with ‘Heart Drop’ and ‘Bloom’ promoted together as double title tracks. ‘Heart Drop’ had been pre-released on 6 November. The name takes lip balm and swaps balm for bomb.
The scent
This record’s scent is berry. ET News reported that the scent combines the colour and character of five berries, one per track: cranberry for ‘Heart Drop’, blackberry for ‘Bloom’, raspberry for ‘Love Echo’, strawberry for ‘Hello XO’ and blueberry for ‘MVP’. The album introduction names the same five.
Reviews
Writing for IZM, So Seung-geun said of the record: “at the tail end of 2025 we meet Lip Bomb, a fine album by the five-member K-pop girl group RESCENE.” The same review admitted to having doubted the finish of the songs after so quick a run of comebacks, then answered itself — “this was needless worry” — and called the group “a team that diagnoses the present state of K-pop accurately and proves it honestly”.
For Idology’s 20 best albums of 2025, Binunmul (비눈물) wrote that “RESCENE stay faithful to scent, the team’s core concept, and are steadily widening a musical territory of their own”. The same piece described what the record’s theme did for the singing — “with a popping berry as the main theme, the members’ vocal range of use is wider than before, so across the album the voices stretch out more freely and openly, giving a sense of release” — and wrote that the record “recalls the unexpected freshness felt at the time of their debut while at the same time building a stable image for the group and laying a firm foundation”.
Among the tracks
So Seung-geun wrote that the appeal of the title track ‘Bloom’ “will not come off your ears and your heart, like injeolmi stuck to the roof of your mouth”. The same review named ‘Love echo’ “the album’s highlight” and “a golden track in a progressive pop style that defines another side of RESCENE”, and read Minami’s ad-lib in the later part of ‘MVP’ as a mark of maturity. Binunmul wrote that the synthesiser sound-making on ‘MVP’ and the members’ vocal ability “prove that the potential is already there”, and that the pre-release ‘Heart Drop’ takes up and widens the sense of rhythm of the previous record.
Between 25 November and 1 December 2025 the record sold 104,406 copies on the Hanteo Chart. Sports Kyunghyang reported that as about 20,000 more than the group’s previous album and a career high at the time. In a report of 23 December, the same outlet said the ‘Bloom’ music video had passed about 23 million views and that the group had closed promotions with a Show! Music Core stage on 20 December.
