Who is Chiquita?

Chiquita (치키타) is a member of BABYMONSTER (베이비몬스터), the seven-member girl group under YG Entertainment. The agency’s official profile gives her birthday as 17 February 2009 and the group’s debut date as 1 April 2024. She is last in that profile’s member list and the group’s maknae (the youngest member of the group), and she and Pharita are the two members from Thailand.

The road to debut

YG Entertainment posted ‘BABYMONSTER - Introducing CHIQUITA’ on its official blog on 23 February 2023. Asia Today, reporting on the film the same day, described Chiquita as being from Thailand and wrote that she had joined the team three months after becoming a YG trainee. Yang Hyun-suk, the executive producer, said: “She is a natural without fear. The moment I watched her first monthly evaluation I thought we had to put her in straight away.”

According to the same report, Lisa of BLACKPINK, whom Chiquita had named as her role model, arranged for the two of them to meet at a Thai restaurant with Pharita, watched their practice footage with them and offered advice. Chiquita said: “I will become an artist loved all over the world.”

The final line-up was settled by the debut member announcement film posted on the official blog at midnight on 12 May 2023. According to The Fact, Yang Hyun-suk called Chiquita third, and the film gave as its reason how quickly she had grown despite a short time as a trainee.

A stage at home

In the summer of its debut year the group played its first fan-meeting tour, twelve shows across seven Asian cities, with Bangkok the fifth of them. OSEN, reporting the behind-the-scenes film of the Bangkok show that YG Entertainment posted on its official blog on 30 August 2024, wrote that Chiquita and Pharita stood in front of their families and friends at home for the first time. The same report said the members spoke with local fans in Thai they had studied between schedules, and performed ‘SHEESH’ as a special stage at an open fan signing.

Solo stages

At the last of the three Seoul shows of the second world tour, ‘CHOOM’, at Jamsil Arena on 28 June 2026, Chiquita took a solo stage with ‘Buttons’ and ‘Worth It’. SPOTV News reported that six members each took a solo stage that night.

What to watch

Chiquita appears on every record from the debut digital single ‘BATTER UP’ to the third mini album 춤 (CHOOM), and ‘SHEESH’, the song she performed in Bangkok, is the title track of the first mini album BABYMONS7ER. The records and the official channel are gathered on the BABYMONSTER hub, and the two nights at Kyocera Dome Osaka in September 2026 close the Japanese leg of this tour.
