Giselle (지젤) is a member of aespa, the four-member girl group under SM Entertainment. She was introduced fourth, on 30 October 2020, and her concert solos 'Dopamine' and 'Tornado' and 'Lollipop', a unit song she co-wrote with Ningning, came out on the group's SYNK singles.
Giselle (지젤) is a member of aespa, the four-member girl group under SM Entertainment. The group debuted on 17 November 2020 with the single ‘Black Mamba’. SM Entertainment introduced the members one a day in the run-up to that debut, and Newsis reported on 30 October 2020 that Giselle was the fourth, and that she holds Japanese nationality. aespa’s Japanese official site gives her birth date as 30 October 2000.
The same report noted that SM Entertainment introduced her as a member with solid rapping skills who works in Korean, Japanese and English. aespa debuted in Japan on 3 July 2024 with the single Hot Mess and released their first Japanese mini album, KISS N TELL, on 24 July 2026.
Giselle’s solo songs are on the two SYNK special digital singles. ‘Dopamine’, first sung at the second concert, came out on 9 October 2024 on SYNK : PARALLEL LINE, and SM Entertainment’s album notes, carried on Bugs, call it an R&B song. ‘Tornado’, from the third concert at Seoul’s KSPO Dome in August 2025, came out on 17 November on SYNK : aeXIS LINE; the notes describe it as a tropical dance track.
‘Lollipop’, sung by Giselle and Ningning together, is one of the group’s first unit songs. Xports News reported that the two took part in writing its lyrics and music and that it was first sung at the Tokyo Dome on 25-26 April 2026. It was released on 9 August on SYNK : aeXIS LINE (2026).
Reviewing the second mini album, Girls, for Rolling Stone on 8 July 2022, Kristine Kwak reported that Giselle and Winter both named its track ‘ICU’ as a personal favourite. The review describes it as a song about the importance of taking a step back to rest in the middle of busy times.
Speaking to NME in September 2025, shortly before the sixth mini album, Rich Man, came out, Giselle said of the music video trailer: “We all really liked the fact that we didn’t portray the meaning of ‘Rich Man’ literally through money or through like luxury, and it was portrayed more creatively.” It was more about being happy and confident with yourself, she explained, rich in a mindful way.
When the fourth world tour opened at Seoul’s Gocheok Sky Dome on 7-8 August 2026, Giselle’s solo was ‘BYEB4HELLO’. TenAsia wrote that she opened the song plainly at a standing microphone, carried it with ease and turned it around with a dance break near the end. Giselle’s solos on record are ‘Dopamine’ from 2024 and ‘Tornado’ from 2025, and ‘Lollipop’, written with Ningning, is on the single of 9 August 2026. ‘ICU’ is in the track list of Girls.
