Jin is a member of BTS. He released the solo single 'The Astronaut', made with Coldplay, in October 2022, and on 12 June 2024 became the first of the seven to complete military service. His first solo mini album, Happy, followed in November 2024 and the second, Echo, in May 2025.

The first songs under his own name were one-song singles: ‘Tonight’ on 5 June 2019 and ‘Abyss’ on 3 December 2020, whose video went up on the BANGTANTV channel on the day of release.
The solo single ‘The Astronaut’, released on 28 October 2022, was made with Coldplay. The album notes carried on Bugs describe it as a pop-rock song that uses acoustic guitar and synth sounds together and say Jin took part in writing the lyrics, and NME reported that Coldplay gave the song to Jin and joined in co-writing and playing it. Billboard reported that the song was Jin’s first solo entry on the Billboard Hot 100, and in December placed it 14th in its list of the 25 best K-pop songs of 2022.
The single ‘Super Tuna’ came out on 11 October 2024, with a special video posted on the BANGTANTV channel the same day.
His first solo mini album, Happy, came out on 15 November 2024 with six tracks. The album notes carried on Bugs say it is Jin’s first solo album and takes happiness as its theme, that it spans several genres on a base of band sound, and that ‘I’ll Be There’ was released ahead of it on 25 October. The title track is ‘Running Wild’, which NME introduced as co-produced and co-written by Gary Barlow of Take That. Wendy joins him on ‘Heart on the Window’. Billboard placed the album 23rd in its list of the 25 best K-pop albums of 2024.
Eleven days later, on 26 November, came a single of the album track ‘Falling’ sung anew with Taka of ONE OK ROCK. Billboard wrote that the original version had been co-produced and co-written by Taka and Toru, the band’s guitarist.
The second mini album, Echo, came out on 16 May 2025 with seven tracks. The album notes say it captures moments of life spreading out like an echo, fills a base of band sound with pop and rock, and that Jin took part in writing the lyrics of several of its songs. The title track is ‘Don’t Say You Love Me’, and YENA joins him on ‘Loser’. The same notes call it his first new release in about six months, since Happy.
The Korea Herald, in its piece on the group’s first 13 years, recorded that he was the first of the members to enlist, in December 2022. His service ran 18 months, and he left the 5th Infantry Division in Yeoncheon at about 9 a.m. on 12 June 2024, the first of the seven to complete it. The same outlet reported that he had served as an assistant drill instructor at a recruit training centre.
Followed in order, the solo work runs from ‘The Astronaut’ through Happy to Echo, and the album notes say both mini albums are built on band sound. The group’s recent work is on the BTS hub, and the July 2026 stage the seven played together is in the story on the World Cup final halftime show.

Jung Kook sang the official theme 'Dreamers' alone at the 2022 Qatar World Cup opening ceremony on 20 November 2022. Four years later, on 19 July 2026, he was on the final's halftime stage with the other six members of BTS.
BTS performed 'Dynamite' at the halftime show of the World Cup final between Spain and Argentina at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on 19 July 2026. It was the first halftime show ever staged at a World Cup final.
