Jung Kook is a member of BTS. He sang 'Dreamers' at the 2022 Qatar World Cup opening ceremony, the first Korean singer to perform an official World Cup theme song, and released 'Seven' and his first solo album GOLDEN in 2023. Discharged on 11 June 2025, he played the 2026 World Cup final halftime show with the group.
Jung Kook is a member of BTS. The official site gives his birthday as 1 September 1997 and writes his name as two words, “Jung Kook”. He debuted with the other six members on 13 June 2013. In its notes for the third mini album, The Most Beautiful Moment in Life, Pt. 1, released on 29 April 2015, BIGHIT MUSIC named the closing ‘Outro : Love is Not Over’ as the first song Jung Kook tried his hand at producing.
On 20 November 2022 he sang ‘Dreamers’, the official theme song of the tournament, at the World Cup opening ceremony at Al Bayt Stadium in Al Khor, Qatar. Hankook Ilbo reported that he was the first Korean singer to perform an official World Cup theme song, and that he took the stage in black before a crowd of 60,000. Kyunghyang Shinmun recorded that his slot was scheduled between 5.40 p.m. and 6.10 p.m. local time.
Three years and eight months later he stood on the same tournament’s other end. On 19 July 2026 the halftime show of the final at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey was his second World Cup stage, and this time all seven members were on it. The Korea Herald reported that it was the first halftime show ever staged at a World Cup final, and that the group sang ‘Dynamite’ in black, red and white outfits drawn from the colours of Korea’s Red Devils supporters. According to Star News, the show opened with Jung Kook and V. The two stages are set side by side in Jung Kook’s two World Cup stages.
His first solo songs came out as free downloads: ‘Still With You’ on 5 June 2020 and ‘My You’ on 13 June 2022, whose video went up on the BANGTANTV channel a day earlier, on 12 June. The album notes for ‘Seven’ carried on Bugs say Jung Kook had released those two songs free, and that with ‘Seven’ he was starting solo work in earnest.
His first official solo single, ‘Seven (feat. Latto)’, came out on 14 July 2023. The same notes describe it as a summer song in which warm acoustic guitar meets a UK garage rhythm, and say Andrew Watt and Cirkut worked on it. IZM put it among its ten Korean singles of 2023. The second single, ‘3D (feat. Jack Harlow)’, released on 29 September, is a song the album notes introduce as R&B pop built on mid-2000s hip-hop and dance, and The Guardian’s Michael Cragg counted it a top-five hit in the US.
His first solo album, GOLDEN, arrived at 1 p.m. KST on 3 November 2023. Segye Ilbo reported that it carries 11 tracks, among them ‘Seven (feat. Latto)’ from that July and the second single ‘3D (feat. Jack Harlow)’. The title track is ‘Standing Next to You’.
The chart run of ‘Seven’ was still lengthening three years after its release. Star News reported on 9 August 2026 that the song had entered a 159th week on Billboard’s Global excluding US chart, the first and longest such run by an Asian act; that it had entered the Billboard Hot 100 at number one and stayed on that chart for 15 weeks; and that it had reached a 157th week on Spotify’s weekly global chart. The same piece recorded 146 consecutive weeks for GOLDEN on Spotify.
‘Never Let Go’ followed on 7 June 2024. The album notes call it a fan song for the fandom, ARMY, built on a house rhythm and released as part of 2024 FESTA.
In the Q&A Billboard Korea carried on the day ARIRANG was released, he answered that “BTS 2.0”, the name the members gave this era, meant, literally, something new — a new direction, whatever that turns out to be. The Korea Times, reporting the opening of the world tour on 9 April 2026, wrote that he named the 360-degree stage, with the audience on every side, as both a challenge and what makes the show special. The credits of NORMAL, which reissued a song from the same album, list him on background vocals.
He enlisted in December 2023 alongside Jimin. Star News reported that the two served in the 5th Division artillery brigade, that Jung Kook served as a cannoneer, and that they were discharged together in Yeoncheon, Gyeonggi Province on 11 June 2025.
The solo music videos are on the HYBE LABELS channel, and the video for ‘My You’ on the group’s BANGTANTV channel. On 3 July 2026, Sports Kyunghyang and Top Star News reported, he shared a cover of ‘Still With You’ by RESCENE’s Minami in his Instagram story; that story is told in the piece on Minami’s ‘Still With You’ cover. The group’s 13 years are on the BTS hub.
'Seven' reaches a 159th week on Billboard Global excluding US

BTS is a seven-piece group under BIGHIT MUSIC that debuted on 13 June 2013 with the single album '2 Cool 4 Skool'. Its fifth full-length album ARIRANG arrived on 20 March 2026, after all seven had completed military service, and an 85-show world tour opened in April.
