RESCENE's 'Busy Boy': What AA Project and Aria Are

RESCENE's 'Busy Boy' (27 February 2026) opened AA Project and put a new song's master rights into Aria's $APL portfolio at release. What the parties said, and the Galantis remix.

What happened

On 27 February 2026 at 6 p.m. KST, RESCENE — Woni, Liv, Minami, May and Zena — released ‘Busy Boy’ on Korean music platforms. Edaily, citing THE MUZE Entertainment, and Hanteo News both described it as the first song of AA Project, “a music collaboration project in which global K-pop artists and global DJs come together under the slogan ‘Aim for the Peak’”, with RESCENE as the project’s first artist. THE MUZE told Edaily the track “clearly shows the direction of AA Project” and that a remix by an overseas DJ would follow. A music video teaser had gone out on 26 February, and a special stage aired on MBC’s Show! Music Core on 28 February; MBC’s own MBCkpop channel carries that stage.

On Bugs the release is a two-track single titled [RESCENE X ???] — ‘Busy Boy’ and its instrumental — and the credits are where the project’s structure first shows. The production companies (기획사, the companies that plan and fund a release) are listed as Aria and PIG Entertainment, with Fluxus as distributor; the executive producer credit reads “DOKO (도코) Aria & PIG Ent”. DOKO composed the song with Blue.D and arranged it with Bluewine; the lyrics are by DOKO, 이시연 (lalala studio) and two THE MUZE writers, 이주헌 and 더풀킴.

The album note is headed “AA Project : Aim for the Peak. POWERED BY ARIA — Global K-POP Artist X Global DJ”, calls ‘Busy Boy’ the starting point of the “emotion-driven K-pop” the project pursues, and ends: “The next DJ is closer than you think.”

That DJ was Galantis. On 12 March 2026 ‘Busy Boy (Galantis Remix)’ was released — Apple Music lists it as a 2:41 single by RESCENE — and a press release distributed by Story, the blockchain foundation whose chain Aria is built on, called it Galantis’s first work with a K-pop artist since the 2021 remix of BTS and Coldplay’s ‘My Universe’. The same release describes Galantis as the dance project led by Christian Karlsson (Bloodshy), with more than 10 billion cumulative streams and a Grammy for Best Dance Recording for co-writing and producing Britney Spears’ ‘Toxic’.

What made ‘Busy Boy’ unusual is who owns the recording. On 12 February 2026, two weeks before release, Newstap reported that Aria Protocol — which it described as a global IP-based real-world-asset (RWA) project — would bring the single into its ecosystem. In Newstap’s account, ‘Busy Boy’ is the first project added to Aria’s $APL portfolio from the moment of release, and the first release whose rights structure was designed in advance; all master royalties generated from the album go to holders of Aria’s $APL token, in a model where Aria holds the master rights directly and supports the release. Aria called this “frontline IP”: treating a song as a base asset that can be extended and remixed from release, instead of buying the rights or part of the revenue of already-released songs.

The English-language statements are more specific about the mechanics. On 17 February 2026 IP Strategy (Nasdaq: IPST) — a company that holds $IP tokens as a primary reserve asset and operates a validator for the Story Protocol — issued a statement recognising Aria’s partnership with RESCENE and THE MUZE. It said the release “will represent the first newly issued master rights entering Aria’s $APL portfolio at launch stage”, built on Story’s Layer 1 blockchain, and that “master royalties generated from ‘Busy Boy’ will flow back to $APL holders, giving fans, investors, and creators the potential to share in the song’s upside.” Its 7 April follow-up repeated the point in shorter form: the first newly issued music rights entering Aria’s ecosystem at launch, with royalties flowing to $APL token holders.

The same statement is the clearest description of Aria itself. Aria is built on Story, “the purpose-built L1 blockchain for IP”, and brings IP rights, starting with music, on-chain as fungible, liquid tokens that are tradable and yield-bearing. Its first tokenised asset, $APL, launched in 2025 and represents royalties from partial rights tied to songs performed by Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus and BLACKPINK; the token launch took place in November 2025. Aria Protocol Labs Inc., founded by music-industry veterans including David Kostiner, leads the protocol’s development. Hit Channel summarised the same structure as a participatory ecosystem in which fans and creators share in the music IP ownership.

The parties’ own words on why they did it are brief. Kostiner told Newstap the collaboration started from a shared view that the way music is owned should change with the flow of culture, and that RESCENE’s rapid global growth would be a practical example of new-song IP being funded, owned and monetised on a community basis. A THE MUZE official called it an important turning point for RESCENE and said the company wanted to build, with Aria, a new way of releasing music that connects creative growth with global fan participation. On the remix, Galantis said in a statement quoted by Hit Channel: “The chord progression and tempo immediately lit me up and reminded me of the gaming culture I grew up with”, and RESCENE was quoted in the press release distributed by Story saying they felt anticipation on hearing the Galantis version and were glad it lets them show their music to new fans around the world.
