The record

Bigbang 03 is the third single BIGBANG released, on 22 November 2006. It came two months after the second single, Bigbang Is V.I.P, and where the first two carried three or four songs, this one has five. The Bugs track list marks ‘Forever With U’, featuring Park Bom, and ‘Good Bye Baby’ as title tracks, while YG Entertainment’s album introduction on the same page names ‘BigBang’ as the single’s title track.

YG Entertainment’s album introduction presents the record as the last single before the full album due in December. The same text says the group was preparing its first solo concert, for an audience of 10,000, on 30 December 2006.

Among the tracks

According to YG’s official discography, ‘Good Bye Baby’ has lyrics by Taeyang and music by Perry and Brave Brothers, and puts Taeyang’s and Daesung’s voices in front. The credits also list G-Dragon and T.O.P among its lyricists.

‘Forever With U’ was composed by G-Dragon and arranged by Brave Brothers, and the album introduction describes Park Bom’s vocal meeting G-Dragon’s and T.O.P’s raps. In its 2020 selection of 50 BIGBANG tracks, The Korea Herald called it a “piano-laden R&B track” from the group’s early days that “makes for perfect nighttime listening”. ‘Laugh It Off’ (웃어본다) is Daesung’s solo, with lyrics by Ahn Young Min and music and arrangement by Lee Gyu-won.

Afterwards

A month later the first album, BIGBANG Vol.1, carried ‘Laugh It Off’ again, as ‘웃어본다 (Dae-Sung Solo)’. The three singles of 2006 and the album are taken in turn in the story on BIGBANG’s 2006.
