‘UhUh’ is the title track of Re:Scene, the debut single album of the five-member group RESCENE, released on 26 March 2024 at 6 p.m. KST. The album introduction sets the debut record’s scent as floral and presents this song under a bold ‘Burning Flower’ concept. According to the Korea JoongAng Daily, Zena said at the showcase that the song is about the scent left behind after a flower bursts into flame, and the choreography includes a move where the members rub their wrists, as one does after putting on perfume.
The lyrics are by The Muze, Paulina “PAU” Cerrilla and Josefin Glenmark, and the music by Paulina “PAU” Cerrilla, Josefin Glenmark, Daniel Roughley, Tim Tan, JAR (153/Joombas) and The Muze; Daniel Roughley, Tim Tan and The Muze arranged it.
Writing Idology’s 10 best rookies of 2024, Binunmul (비눈물) said the song “left a strong first impression, tuning a flow that moves between restraint and eruption over a bass that stands out”.
So Seung-geun opened his Glow Up review for IZM the following year with the sentence “the most important instrument in RESCENE’s songs is the bass”, and pointed to this song as the place that bass first showed. The same review wrote that in the group’s songs “a thick, clear 16-beat bass, as solid as a pillar, leads the whole song”. Park Seung-min, at the same outlet, wrote in IZM’s best Korean singles of 2024 that “the first two singles ‘Uhuh’ and ‘Yoyo’ served to draw the rough blueprint”.
NME placed ‘LOVE ATTACK’ at number 11 in its 25 best K-pop songs of 2024 and took in this debut on the way. Ivana E. Morales, who wrote the entry, said that “RESCENE arrived in the K-pop sphere with a sparkling pop confidence that stood apart”, and that “their debut rendered a gleeful surprise”.
The official music video went up on the group’s channel on release day, and a performance version followed on 13 April. The debut showcase was held on release day at Yes24 Live Hall in Gwangjin District, Seoul.
