Who are NCT 127?

NCT 127 are a seven-member boy group under SM Entertainment: Johnny, Taeyong, Yuta, Doyoung, Jaehyun, Jungwoo and Haechan. Herald Business introduced the team as NCT’s Seoul unit on 1 July 2016, six days before the debut. Their fandom is called NCTzen (엔시티즌), a name shared across NCT.

Sports Kyunghyang reported on 15 July 2026, quoting SM Entertainment, that all seven members had renewed as NCT 127. The same statement gave the group’s debut date as 7 July 2016.

From the debut to the first concert

The debut song, ‘Fire Truck’, mixes hip-hop and trap with a moombahton rhythm. The group gave its first performance on Mnet’s M Countdown on 7 July 2016; the debut album NCT #127 came out digitally at noon on the 10th and on CD on the 11th. In Japan the group debuted with the mini album Chain on 23 May 2018, which went to number one on Billboard Japan’s Top Album Sales and number two on Oricon’s weekly album chart.

On the Billboard 200 the group first appeared at number 86 with the first full-length album, Regular-Irregular, in 2018. Munhwa Ilbo traced the path from there: number 11 for the 2019 mini album We Are Superhuman, number five for the 2020 album Neo Zone, and number three for the 2021 album Sticker.

The first solo concert, NEO CITY : SEOUL – The Origin, was held at KSPO Dome in Seoul on 26 and 27 January 2019, staged by the choreographer Rino Nakasone, and went on to fourteen shows in Japan. “I’m proud of it myself,” Taeyong said. “Something I dreamed of as a trainee has come true, and we prepared hard, so please watch closely.”

Awards and big stages

‘Kick It’, the title track of the second full-length album Neo Zone in March 2020, carries a lyric message about overcoming trauma, and its point choreography takes its motif from Bruce Lee’s martial-arts gestures. On 23 January 2022 the group won the grand prize at the 31st Seoul Music Awards at Gocheok Sky Dome. “We didn’t expect it at all, and we’re overwhelmed to be given such a big award,” Taeyong said, and Doyoung added: “I’ve dreamed of winning an award like this for a long time. Thank you so much — it’s thanks to NCTzen.”

That May the group made its first dome tour, playing Vantelin Dome Nagoya on the 22nd and Tokyo Dome on the 28th and 29th, then Kyocera Dome Osaka on 25 and 26 June — five shows in three cities for 220,000 people. On 22 and 23 October it held NEO CITY : SEOUL – THE LINK + at the Olympic Main Stadium in Jamsil. Nocut News called it a two-night solo concert in the main stadium six years after the debut, and the first concert at home in three years and nine months at which the audience could cheer and sing along; the show ran close to four hours.

At the press conference for the fifth full-length album, Fact Check, at the Conrad Seoul on 6 October 2023, the members introduced it as “the album that’s most like NCT 127”. Its key word was Seoul, and the music video was shot across the city, at Gyeongbokgung Palace and in Yeouido among other places. Yuta said: “There was an earlier draft of the choreography, but Taeyong said he’d make something better and came back with it in a single day.” The second Japanese dome tour, NEO CITY : JAPAN – THE UNITY, drew about 260,000 people over six shows in Nagoya, Osaka and Tokyo from January to March 2024, 100,000 of them on the two Tokyo Dome nights of 9 and 10 March. “We’re grateful to be able to perform again at Tokyo Dome, which was our dream,” the members said.

Where to start

‘Blingy’, the title track of the seventh full-length album BLINGY, is the group’s current release. Munhwa Ilbo reported that the album came out at 6 p.m. KST on 24 August 2026, timed to the tenth anniversary, with nine tracks including the title track. SM Entertainment’s newsroom described the B-side ‘127 Million Miles’ as one sung by “all seven members, Doyoung and Jungwoo included”. Soompi reported that on 5 September 2026 ‘Blingy’ took the album’s first music-show win, on MBC’s Show! Music Core.

The fifth tour

The fifth tour, NEO CITY – THE REDLINE, opened at KSPO Dome in Seoul on 18 to 20 September 2026. The three nights drew more than 31,500 people, and the show was built in five chapters. The 20 September show was screened live in more than 1,000 cinemas across some 40 regions, including South Korea, Japan, the United States and Canada. Xportsnews reported on 21 September that the tour would continue through Jakarta (3 October), Hong Kong (10–11 October), Singapore (18 October), Saitama (24–25 October), Bangkok (31 October–1 November) and Manila (12 December) to Taipei, Kuala Lumpur and Macau in January 2027.

The title-track music video sits on the SMTOWN channel, and the group’s self-produced content and stage films on the NCT 127 channel.
